Lina set up a time with her.
After hanging up, Luke said, “I’ll go with you tonight.”
Felicia knew exactly what he was worried about. Things had been smooth lately, but it never hurt to stay cautious.
“Okay.”
That afternoon, they headed to a shopping mall. Since they were in town, it only made sense to pick up some gifts before heading home.
Felicia spotted a necklace she thought would be perfect for Ava.
She asked the clerk to wrap it up.
But then, a voice that instantly grated on her nerves rang out. “I want that necklace. The one she picked.”
The clerk froze.
Felicia turned and saw Andrea walk in. Her eyebrows knitted together.
Andrea walked straight over and asked the clerk, “How much for the necklace?”
“Five million,” the clerk said.
Andrea pulled out a black card, and Felicia recognized it instantly. It was the American Express Centurion, the kind of card most people only ever hear rumors about.
Andrea was obviously trying to show off, and Felicia didn’t need to guess whose card it really was. If Andrea had to play these childish games, it only proved how desperate she’d become. Sure, Max had given her the card, and that said something about how much he cared. He couldn’t be there in person, so he just used money to fill the gap.
The clerk’s eyes widened at the sight of the card. Clearly, this was a VIP customer. She turned to Felicia, apologetic. “I’m sorry, miss, but with this card, she gets VIP priority in every shop here.”
Andrea looked Felicia up and down, then glanced at Luke. Her voice dripped with scorn. “Honestly, you have no shame. Last night you were with Gavin, and today you’re with Luke. I guess being ugly all those years made you desperate. Now that your surgery’s finally paid off, you’re really working hard at fooling around with men, aren’t you… Ah!”
Felicia’s hand landed across Andrea’s cheek with a crisp, echoing slap.
Shocked gasps filled the store.
“Looks like you still don’t know your manners.”
