The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback (Felicia and Max) novel Chapter 442

Cian messaged again. [So, what’s going on with her and Jeremy? Are they dating or what?]

Max replied, [If you have this much time to gossip, maybe put it to better use.]

Cian shot back, [Relax, I just asked a question! What’s up with you?]

Max didn’t bother replying.

“Daddy...” Anne mumbled in her sleep.

Max set his phone aside and gently tucked the blanket around her shoulders. “Are you okay, sweetheart?”

“Daddy, you have to wake me up early, promise.”

He smiled and softly patted her back. “I will. Now go back to sleep.”

That night, a local photographer posted a picture on social media. The shot of Felicia and Jeremy blew up, bringing a flood of attention to the blogger. Some people started accusing the blogger of taking photos without permission, saying it was an invasion of privacy. But with all the new followers and buzz, the blogger just ignored the complaints.

It didn’t take long for someone to recognize Felicia. She was the anchor from the business news channel, and there had been rumors online about her mingling with a bunch of high-profile finance guys. Even though those rumors were cleared up and the person who started it apologized, there were always people who loved a scandal, always convinced the worst was true. Online, it seemed like being pretty was a crime all by itself.

Soon, people started digging for more dirt on Felicia, filling the comments with rude insults and jealous speculation. In just a few hours, strangers acted like Felicia had done something unforgivable. The comment section went from a couple of people admiring the scenery to a mess of judgment and hate.

Right when things were reaching a fever pitch, the blogger’s account was suddenly suspended. It was like none of it ever happened.

Heather had seen the post as she scrolled through her feed. But when she tried to click on it, the account was already gone. She frowned, confused. She could have sworn she saw a photo of Jeremy and Felicia.

Felicia didn’t see any of it. She was too tired to care about her phone and went to bed early that night.

Felicia lay there a few more minutes before reaching over to turn on the lamp. The clock said it was almost six. She pushed off the covers and shuffled into the bathroom to wash her face. The splash of cold water finally woke her up.

She got dressed, pulled on her hat and scarf, and just as she was about to leave, someone knocked at her door. She opened it to see Max and Anne waiting outside.

“Evelynn, I’ve been up since early.”

Felicia bent down and ruffled Anne’s hair, smiling. “You’re such a good girl, Anne.”

Max gestured toward the hallway. “Let’s go get some breakfast.”

Something about his voice made Felicia pause. She glanced up at him, thinking about how he’d called her earlier. He used to sound so distant, always giving orders. Now, he felt different. Softer. Almost like he cared.
