“Yes! I want to take a picture with Mommy and Daddy,” Anne shouted, her voice full of excitement as she naturally called out for her mom.

Felicia smiled and gently patted Anne’s head.

Max handed his camera to a staff member so they could all be in the shot. The staff snapped a bunch of photos. Max flipped through them, with Anne pressing close to see. Felicia, meanwhile, lifted her phone and started recording the glowing sun as it slowly peeked over the horizon. Even so, the beauty of the sunrise was way more than any phone could really capture.

Max soon got his camera back and snapped more pictures of Felicia and Anne together.

A few minutes passed and daylight spilled across the whole mountaintop.

They left the viewing platform as a group. Anne was having the time of her life, using her little duck-shaped snow mold to make a trail of tiny snow ducks as they walked. Felicia joined her, helping build a small snowman, but her efforts were hopeless. The snowman she made just looked like a lumpy pile.

Anne squinted at it, confused. “Mommy, is this a snowman?”

Felicia was stumped. She didn’t know what to say.

“Daddy, look at what Mommy made,” Anne called, turning to Max with wide eyes.

Max crouched down for a closer look. “That’s definitely not a snowman.”

Felicia rolled her eyes and said nothing.

Anne blinked. “Then what is it?”

Max looked up at Felicia. “Is this some new kind of creature?”

Felicia shot him a look, choosing to ignore the teasing.

Max let out a soft laugh and told Anne, “Your mommy isn’t very good at building snowmen. Daddy will make you a proper one.”

Anne beamed. “Okay!”

Felicia watched him, her gaze lingering as he scooped up fresh snow from the side and started carefully forming it into shape. Max really could put on the perfect husband and dad act when it came to Anne.

Just then, Felicia’s phone buzzed. She stepped away to answer. It was Luke.

Felicia ended the call and let her gaze drift to the sea of clouds in the distance. There were way fewer tourists today than yesterday.

“Mommy, come look at the snowman Daddy made!” Anne called out.

Felicia turned back and walked toward them. Max had stacked two round snowballs, one big and one small, making a picture-perfect little snowman.

“This is Daddy Snowman!” Anne said, grinning. “Daddy, you have to make a Mommy Snowman and a Baby Snowman too.”

Max stroked Anne’s head. “How about you and Mommy go to the shop and see if you can find some chocolate drops for the snowman’s eyes?”

“Okay!” Anne cheered, grabbing Felicia’s hand and pulling her along to find chocolate.

When they got back, Max had already finished building two more snowmen. Anne carefully pressed the chocolate drops onto their faces. Looking at the two big snowmen and one tiny one lined up together, Anne’s whole face lit up. “This one’s Daddy, this one’s Mommy, and this one’s me.”

Max watched Anne’s joy, then turned and met Felicia’s eyes.
