The meeting was set for ten the next morning.
At eight that night, Felicia was still at her desk, buried in work, when Anne called.
“Daddy and Mommy are both so busy. Daddy hasn’t even come home yet.”
Felicia smiled gently. “Be a good girl and get some sleep, Anne. You’ve got preschool in the morning.”
After hanging up, Felicia worked for another hour before she finally packed up to leave.
Just as she was about to head out, her phone rang. It was Luke.
“Hey, Luke. What’s going on?”
“Are you still at work?” His words slurred, heavy with alcohol.
“I just wrapped everything up. Heading home now. Have you been drinking?”
He didn’t bother denying it. “Yeah. I need a favor.”
Luke had gone out drinking with some friends. One of them wanted help with something, but the request put him on the spot. Luke didn’t want to say no, but he was desperate for a way out.
“No problem. I’ll come get you.”
Felicia stepped out of her office and almost bumped into Jeremy, who was about to knock.
“Done for the night?” he asked.
She nodded, and they walked together toward the elevator.
“Want to grab something to eat?” Jeremy asked.
Felicia shook her head. “I have to pick up Luke.”
Jeremy looked concerned. “Is he alright?”
She gave him a quick rundown.
Jeremy nodded. “Alright. Drive safe, okay?”
The guy’s smile faded. He wasn’t used to being mocked, especially not by a girl.
He glared at her. “So, tell me, which billionaire are you with? A girl like you, talking like that—you must have some rich guy backing you.”
Felicia couldn’t even be bothered to respond.
Just then, she noticed someone approaching. The man’s presence was impossible to ignore—confident, commanding.
She turned and saw Max walking straight toward them.
What was he doing here?
Felicia fell silent. The guys still hadn’t noticed Max and kept taunting her. “You are just a sugar baby. I see girls like you all the time…”
A deep, cold voice cut in. “Say that again?”
The man immediately stiffened. He turned and had to look up—way up—to meet Max’s gaze.
He was so shocked, he couldn’t even get a word out.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback (Felicia and Max)
Nothing today...
The story starting to feel dragged out. Nothing much is happening anymore and Felicia and Max are getting kinda boring.. it’s just the same cycle over and over again...
I used to like this story but now it draaaaags :( Now it seems like all characters are problematic and toxic (yes, ALL characters). Wish the author will give some warmth/emotion in this story. 700+ chapters and still no highlight, no exciting part, just pure coldness and expressionlessness lol...
Max and felicia really need to figure things out. Either humble max down and get him to respect his wife. Or let felicia be a free woman. Max is so ignorant and egomaniac...
I've reached chapter 104 with a broken heart huhuuhu. This is so heavy, so sad. I know the chapters onwards will be more lighter. Can't wait for the pay back time....
When will this novel get an end It's dragging so much. Just kill max asap. How much should felicia bare. Give her freedom from that max and anne. Anne is so annoying child. I know she wants to patch up her mother and father. But sometimes it's really boring.please finish the novel soon. Everyday we have to check for the chapter updates. For God sake finish it off. How many more chapters are there . You could have make the novel short and sweet. I wish if it was in theatre we could have finish it soon....
I am waiting for the update, thank you uploader we reader enjoying the story...
Finally! The robot Max is turning into a human....
The longer it takes to update chapters, the faster I lose my interest. Time to find another novel to indulge to, I guess....
