The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback (Felicia and Max) novel Chapter 449

The guy didn’t say a word. He kept his head down and hurried off, almost like he was running away.

Max turned to Felicia. “What are you doing out here?”

She barely glanced at him. “Waiting for someone.”

“Who are you waiting for?”

Felicia shot him a look. “If you’ve got things to do, go get them down. When we’re outside, it’s better if we act like strangers.”

Max let out a quiet sigh. “Just making a conversation. You don’t have to be so cold.”

Felicia ignored him, pulling out her phone to make a call.

Before she could dial, someone called out, “Felicia!”

It was Luke. Felicia tucked her phone away and hurried over to help him. He was being half-carried by a friend and looked like he’d had way too much to drink.

“Hey, you gotta be Luke’s girlfriend!” Luke’s friend grinned.

Felicia blinked in surprise at the greeting, glancing at the guy holding Luke up.

Luke’s head felt heavy, but he still knew what was going on. “Don’t call her that,” he muttered, barely loud enough to hear.

His friend just chuckled and shrugged. “Alright, I’m heading out then. We’ll get together another time. He’s all yours.”

Felicia managed a small smile and slipped her arm around Luke’s shoulders. “Can you walk?”

“I’m good. Let’s go,” he mumbled.

The cool night air seemed to sober Luke up a little as they stepped outside. He spotted Max standing a little ways off, his face impossible to read under the streetlights.

Luke just gave him a nod.

Felicia didn’t look Max’s way again. She and Luke walked toward the car.

Suddenly, behind them, a girl’s voice rang out, thick with tears and booze. “Max!”

Felicia looked back without thinking. She saw Andrea, completely wasted, slumped over someone’s shoulder as she stumbled out of the bar. She looked like she’d been crying, her heartbreak written all over her face.

Luke was out cold, so she leaned over and gently shook his shoulder. “Luke, we’re here.”

He blinked awake, looking even more out of it.

Felicia unbuckled and climbed out, walking around to open his door. As soon as she did, Luke leaned out and threw up on the curb.

Felicia jumped back, startled.

She hurried toward the house, just as Rose came downstairs. Rose paused, surprised to see Felicia.

“Mrs. Hawthorne,” Felicia said politely. “I brought Luke home, but he’s not feeling well. Maybe someone could help him inside?”

Rose immediately called for a maid to come out.

The maid helped Luke inside. As Rose got closer, she caught a strong whiff of alcohol and frowned in concern. “Why did you drink so much?”

“I’m fine,” Luke slurred. “Just had a few drinks with friends.”

“Go upstairs and rest. I’ll have someone make you some soup to help you sober up.”
