The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback (Felicia and Max) novel Chapter 484

Felicia lay unconscious in the hospital bed, her face so pale it was almost translucent. Jeremy sat beside her, gripping her hand as if he could anchor her to this world just by holding on. He watched her, his chest tight with worry, but relief washed over him anyway. She was safe, at least for now.

The door creaked open. Jeremy’s eyes snapped up, instantly alert.

Max walked in, his energy filling the whole room. There was a red, swollen mark on his right cheek. His gaze swept from Felicia lying motionless in the bed to Jeremy’s hand wrapped around hers. His eyes narrowed, something sharp and dangerous flickering there.

He stepped in with steady confidence. “Didn’t realize you liked playing with what belongs to someone else.”

Jeremy met his stare, cold and unflinching behind his glasses. “Felicia doesn’t belong to anyone. She’s her own person. And you, of all people, don’t deserve her.”

Max stopped at the foot of the bed, letting out a soft, bitter laugh. “It seems like you don’t know who is her husband.”

Jeremy didn’t look away. “You don’t even know what being a husband should mean. You’ve never respected her. That marriage certificate is just a piece of paper, and it’s the only thing linking you to her.”

Max’s eyes went dark, his whole face turning to ice. “That piece of paper is a wall you’ll never get past. You should stop acting like she’s yours.”

The tension in the room grew heavy, pressing in from all sides. Max’s voice dropped, low and full of warning. “I’ll take care of my wife myself.” The message couldn’t have been clearer.

Jeremy wasn’t backing down. “Too bad Felicia doesn’t want your care.”

Max’s jaw tensed. “You can play the hero for a day, Jeremy, but you can’t protect her forever. Let me say this one more time. Felicia is the mother of my daughter. There will never be a divorce.”

Felicia’s reaction wasn’t just about resisting him. It felt like trauma, something deeper, and none of the reports said she’d been harmed. Still, he needed the truth.

“Understood.”

Max closed the call and went back inside, dragging a chair across from Jeremy and sitting down. The two men sat in silence on either side of Felicia’s bed, the air between them thick enough to choke on.

A nurse came in to change Felicia’s IV. She hesitated, taking in the sight of two striking men locked in a silent standoff. It was rare to see anyone this handsome, and there were two at once. The tension and intensity in the room felt straight out of a TV drama. Still, she did her best to stay professional, stepping forward carefully.

“Excuse me, sir,” she said quietly to Max. “I need to change her IV.”
