The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback (Felicia and Max) novel Chapter 485

Max stood up and stepped aside. The nurse swapped out the almost empty IV bag for a fresh one.

“When will she wake up?” Max asked.

The nurse looked tense. “The doctor said probably in two or three hours.”

Max murmured his understanding and let her go. The nurse quickly left the room.

Jeremy’s phone buzzed. It was Anthony. He stepped out onto the balcony to take the call.

“Savannah and Mason are awake. What’s going on with Felicia?” Anthony asked.

Jeremy and Anthony had gone to the hotel together. The hotel staff had found Savannah and Mason in a private room. Anthony brought them to the hospital, while Jeremy looked for Felicia. Now they were downstairs in another ward.

“She’s still out, getting fluids,” Jeremy replied. “Can you head over to CoreTech yourself?”

“Yeah, I’m on it,” Anthony said.

Jeremy barely hung up before his assistant called. He listened, gave a few instructions, then ended the call.

Outside the room, Max was fielding work calls too. As soon as he finished, a document popped up on his phone. It was a psychiatric report.

His phone rang again. He answered.

“Evelynn’s been in therapy for six months. Here’s her diagnosis,” the voice said. “Her therapist said she’s extremely resistant to any physical contact with men. She’d get nauseous, even vomit…”

Just the thought of sex made her sick. Holden hadn’t forced himself on her, but he’d put her through hell mentally. No one knew exactly what he’d done, but knowing Holden, Max already had a faint idea.

They started to suspect something between Evelynn and Max after Alyza sent them those photos. Andrea confirmed they were married. When they saw Anne, that sealed it.

Evelynn and Max pretended not to know each other when they met in New York. Clearly, things were bad between them

It’s obvious Felicia left her kid and came to the US because of Max and Andrea.

Trey paused, then added, “You have to admit, Evelynn’s got guts. She forced Max to marry her five years ago, and now he refuses to let her go. Think he’s actually going to fall for her?”

Holden scoffed. “I doubt it. Just because Max won’t divorce her doesn’t mean he cares. We’re the same, he and I. Real feelings are cheap. Pathetic.”

Trey’s eyes narrowed. “I wouldn’t be so sure.”
