Felicia had something she needed to talk over with Jeremy.
She headed upstairs and was just asking his secretary when the office door swung open.
She glanced up and saw Darin coming out. For a split second, his eyes met hers, and there was something complicated in his gaze that Felicia couldn’t quite read.
Honestly, she just found him a little strange.
Darin gave her a polite nod and a faint smile, said a quick word to Jeremy, then strode off down the hall.
Felicia stood quietly, watching him go before turning her attention back to Jeremy.
“Come in,” Jeremy called, meeting her eyes.
Felicia walked into the office and closed the door behind her. “So, what brings Darin to Roen Capital all of a sudden?” she asked, her tone tinged with curiosity.
Jeremy made her a cup of coffee and set it on the table in front of her.
She settled onto the sofa, waiting for his answer.
“He wanted to talk about the Curtis family’s investment in Northwick and the outlook for the economy,” Jeremy explained.
Felicia gave a small, sarcastic smile. “For a second, I thought he was here to discuss some kind of partnership.”
Jeremy smiled a little. “He’d never actually work with Roen Capital. Honestly, I was surprised he showed up at all. He wasn’t just making small talk, either. He mentioned you. It almost felt like he was fishing for information.”
Felicia frowned, clearly annoyed. “Why would he bring me up? Is he trying to do Andrea a favor?”
Jeremy shook his head. “No, nothing like that. Actually, he was full of praise for you and your abilities.”
Felicia rolled her eyes. “That’s just weird.”
Jeremy’s gaze grew serious behind his glasses as he watched her. “What if he’s willing to keep up this act with you for the rest of your lives?”
The question made Felicia’s face darken.
For the rest of their lives?
She’d honestly never even thought about that. But to her, it just seemed impossible.
“Even if it’s just an act, there has to be some real feeling behind it. He’s not exactly the sentimental type.”
Jeremy looked at her with a gentle, earnest expression. “Felicia, if you can, I really hope you’ll try to move forward. The past isn’t as important as you think.”
She could have stayed in America. She could have come back and avoided Max altogether. But her child was always on her mind, and eight years of hopeless longing had left a wound so deep it felt like a thorn stuck in her heart.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback (Felicia and Max)
Nothing today...
The story starting to feel dragged out. Nothing much is happening anymore and Felicia and Max are getting kinda boring.. it’s just the same cycle over and over again...
I used to like this story but now it draaaaags :( Now it seems like all characters are problematic and toxic (yes, ALL characters). Wish the author will give some warmth/emotion in this story. 700+ chapters and still no highlight, no exciting part, just pure coldness and expressionlessness lol...
Max and felicia really need to figure things out. Either humble max down and get him to respect his wife. Or let felicia be a free woman. Max is so ignorant and egomaniac...
I've reached chapter 104 with a broken heart huhuuhu. This is so heavy, so sad. I know the chapters onwards will be more lighter. Can't wait for the pay back time....
When will this novel get an end It's dragging so much. Just kill max asap. How much should felicia bare. Give her freedom from that max and anne. Anne is so annoying child. I know she wants to patch up her mother and father. But sometimes it's really boring.please finish the novel soon. Everyday we have to check for the chapter updates. For God sake finish it off. How many more chapters are there . You could have make the novel short and sweet. I wish if it was in theatre we could have finish it soon....
I am waiting for the update, thank you uploader we reader enjoying the story...
Finally! The robot Max is turning into a human....
The longer it takes to update chapters, the faster I lose my interest. Time to find another novel to indulge to, I guess....
