A comedy sketch blared from the TV, laughter from the audience bubbling through the speakers. The living room, though, was anything but lively. Felicia and Max sat side by side, but the silence between them felt sharp and heavy. Neither of them even cracked a smile.
Time dragged on before Max finally spoke, his tone steady and measured.
“You can argue with me. You can give me the silent treatment. But divorce isn’t something you just say out of anger.”
Felicia’s face stiffened, her voice cool and controlled.
“Don’t forget about our agreement. Divorce is happening eventually, so there’s no need to force yourself in the meantime.”
Max’s response was flat.
“No one’s forcing anything here.”
Her eyes darkened, lips pressed tight.
He kept going, unmoved.
“Even if we are ending things, before that happens, I expect you to act like a proper wife and mother.”
Felicia turned, catching his gaze with a slight, mocking smile.
“So, what? As soon as a woman puts on a wedding ring, she’s just supposed to stay home and play the perfect wife, while her husband does whatever he wants?”
Max met her eyes without flinching.
“I signed the agreement. I’ve got no reason to do anything that’d cause me trouble.”
Felicia snorted softly, narrowed her eyes, then pulled out her phone. She tapped to bring up a photo, holding it out.
“Really? Then what’s this?”
Max glanced at the screen, frowning as he saw the picture. It was from the yacht party—two girls in revealing dresses, one perched beside him, the other kneeling by his feet and gazing up at him with adoring eyes. Max looked as distant and untouchable as a king.
His jaw tightened. Shutting off emotion, he pulled out his phone and made a call.
The phone barely rang before someone answered.
He held the phone out to Felicia, but she didn’t bother to take it. Her face was unreadable.
“Evelynn?” Gavin’s voice drifted from the speaker.
Felicia’s reply was quiet but final.
“Gavin, you don’t need to explain. Honestly, you don’t need to tell me anything about him anymore.”
Gavin hesitated, picking up on the tension. They were together again, but things were hardly patched up.
“Evelynn, listen, Max—” Gavin started, but Max ended the call with a tap.
Felicia looked up, waiting.
Max spoke, his tone softer, though his eyes were distant.
“I was in a bad mood. Gavin threw a yacht party, so I went just to get my head straight.”

The readers' comments on the novel: The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback (Felicia and Max)
Nothing today...
The story starting to feel dragged out. Nothing much is happening anymore and Felicia and Max are getting kinda boring.. it’s just the same cycle over and over again...
I used to like this story but now it draaaaags :( Now it seems like all characters are problematic and toxic (yes, ALL characters). Wish the author will give some warmth/emotion in this story. 700+ chapters and still no highlight, no exciting part, just pure coldness and expressionlessness lol...
Max and felicia really need to figure things out. Either humble max down and get him to respect his wife. Or let felicia be a free woman. Max is so ignorant and egomaniac...
I've reached chapter 104 with a broken heart huhuuhu. This is so heavy, so sad. I know the chapters onwards will be more lighter. Can't wait for the pay back time....
When will this novel get an end It's dragging so much. Just kill max asap. How much should felicia bare. Give her freedom from that max and anne. Anne is so annoying child. I know she wants to patch up her mother and father. But sometimes it's really boring.please finish the novel soon. Everyday we have to check for the chapter updates. For God sake finish it off. How many more chapters are there . You could have make the novel short and sweet. I wish if it was in theatre we could have finish it soon....
I am waiting for the update, thank you uploader we reader enjoying the story...
Finally! The robot Max is turning into a human....
The longer it takes to update chapters, the faster I lose my interest. Time to find another novel to indulge to, I guess....
