Gavin just grinned, like it was no big deal. “Come on, how is this stirring the pot? You two aren’t a thing. Evelynn doesn’t even care about you. Don’t go imagining things.”
He gave Max a playful look. “You can’t force love.”
Max’s voice dropped, firm and with a warning edge. “Gavin, whatever’s going on between me and her, it’s none of your business.”
Gavin let out a quiet chuckle. “Whoa, relax. Seriously though—do you even know how you feel about Evelynn? Do you actually love her, or what?”
Max took a sip of wine, silent.
Later on, in the middle of the party, someone bumped into Max and spilled a drink down his shirt. He ducked away to clean up. A little while later, Olisha slipped into the room, holding a fresh set of clothes.
She was dressed in a short, red dress with thin straps and a daring neckline that made her skin look almost impossibly seductive. The dress left just enough to the imagination, the soft curve of her chest shifting with every breath. She stood there, young, beautiful, and she smelled like something impossible to forget.
The overhead lights caught in her amber eyes, making them sparkle. She looked like she’d stepped out of a dream.
It was obvious why she’d showed up like this. Any guy with a pulse would have a hard time not reacting.
Max’s dark eyes grew colder as he watched her.
Olisha looked up at him, practically shining with admiration she barely tried to hide.
“Mr. Hawthorne, I’m sorry,” she said softly. “I didn’t mean to spill the drink. Let me help you change.”
She set the clothes down on the sofa and stepped closer, reaching for the buttons of his shirt. She barely touched him before his voice, low and ice-cold, cut through.
“Leave.”
Max’s face didn’t soften. He looked even colder. “Who you are doesn’t matter. I don’t need your help.”
Olisha bit her lip, her eyes growing wet with frustration. Men usually fell at her feet, but he seemed immune to her completely.
She clenched her fists, holding back tears.
Then, all at once, she lunged for him, wrapping her arms around his waist, pressed close and desperate. “Mr. Hawthorne, please. I just want to be yours. Let me stay.”
Max’s face went hard as stone.
A few moments later, Max walked out of the room, alone.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback (Felicia and Max)
Nothing today...
The story starting to feel dragged out. Nothing much is happening anymore and Felicia and Max are getting kinda boring.. it’s just the same cycle over and over again...
I used to like this story but now it draaaaags :( Now it seems like all characters are problematic and toxic (yes, ALL characters). Wish the author will give some warmth/emotion in this story. 700+ chapters and still no highlight, no exciting part, just pure coldness and expressionlessness lol...
Max and felicia really need to figure things out. Either humble max down and get him to respect his wife. Or let felicia be a free woman. Max is so ignorant and egomaniac...
I've reached chapter 104 with a broken heart huhuuhu. This is so heavy, so sad. I know the chapters onwards will be more lighter. Can't wait for the pay back time....
When will this novel get an end It's dragging so much. Just kill max asap. How much should felicia bare. Give her freedom from that max and anne. Anne is so annoying child. I know she wants to patch up her mother and father. But sometimes it's really boring.please finish the novel soon. Everyday we have to check for the chapter updates. For God sake finish it off. How many more chapters are there . You could have make the novel short and sweet. I wish if it was in theatre we could have finish it soon....
I am waiting for the update, thank you uploader we reader enjoying the story...
Finally! The robot Max is turning into a human....
The longer it takes to update chapters, the faster I lose my interest. Time to find another novel to indulge to, I guess....
