Ava glanced over her shoulder at Felicia, then walked over and gently helped her sit up, slipping a coat over her shoulders.
Max was upstairs in his study.
Felicia took the elevator up and walked quietly to the study door. She knocked before stepping inside. Max was on the phone, talking about work. Felicia moved in slowly, one hand supporting her lower back. After a few more words, Max hung up. Felicia stood in front of him. He looked at her and asked, “What’s your relationship with Jeremy?”
She blinked, thrown off by the question. “He was my advisor in grad school,” she said.
Max nodded slightly. “So you know Mr. Gilbert?”
“Mr. Gilbert was Mr. Milman’s advisor. I knew him back then, too.”
Max’s voice was steady. “Mr. Gilbert’s been at the university a lot lately.”
Felicia studied his face, trying to figure out what he was getting at. His expression was impossible to read. That made her a little uneasy. “He’s been coming by and asking me to read the newspaper to him.”
Max’s gaze lingered on her, dark and unreadable. Then he looked away. “Alright. Leave me.”
Felicia answered quietly, “Okay. You should get some rest, too.” She turned and left, still holding her back.
Back in the bedroom, Ava was waiting, a look of worry on her face. “What did he want?”
Felicia shrugged. “Nothing much. He just asked about my work at the university.”
Ava frowned. “That’s weird. Why would he suddenly care about your job?”
She had only been staying here a few days, but she could already tell how distant Max was with Felicia. They really did seem like strangers.
Felicia just shook her head; she didn’t want to think about it.
Suddenly, Felicia spotted someone familiar. She looked closer and saw Max…and Andrea’s brother, Darin.
Darin seemed to notice them too. He looked their way.
Savannah locked eyes with Darin and immediately frowned. “Just great,” she muttered, rolling her eyes.
Felicia tried not to let it get to her. “Let’s just pretend we didn’t see them. We’re here for the music.”
Savannah sighed. “You’re taking this pretty well.”
Felicia just smiled gently. “What else can I do?”
Savannah let out another sigh and didn’t say anything more.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback (Felicia and Max)
Nothing today...
The story starting to feel dragged out. Nothing much is happening anymore and Felicia and Max are getting kinda boring.. it’s just the same cycle over and over again...
I used to like this story but now it draaaaags :( Now it seems like all characters are problematic and toxic (yes, ALL characters). Wish the author will give some warmth/emotion in this story. 700+ chapters and still no highlight, no exciting part, just pure coldness and expressionlessness lol...
Max and felicia really need to figure things out. Either humble max down and get him to respect his wife. Or let felicia be a free woman. Max is so ignorant and egomaniac...
I've reached chapter 104 with a broken heart huhuuhu. This is so heavy, so sad. I know the chapters onwards will be more lighter. Can't wait for the pay back time....
When will this novel get an end It's dragging so much. Just kill max asap. How much should felicia bare. Give her freedom from that max and anne. Anne is so annoying child. I know she wants to patch up her mother and father. But sometimes it's really boring.please finish the novel soon. Everyday we have to check for the chapter updates. For God sake finish it off. How many more chapters are there . You could have make the novel short and sweet. I wish if it was in theatre we could have finish it soon....
I am waiting for the update, thank you uploader we reader enjoying the story...
Finally! The robot Max is turning into a human....
The longer it takes to update chapters, the faster I lose my interest. Time to find another novel to indulge to, I guess....
