Darin listened, piecing things together. “Felicia wants a divorce, doesn’t she?”
Max’s voice stayed calm. “She’s just mad, that’s all. We’re not getting divorced.”
Darin’s face fell.
The room grew quiet, the air thick with things unsaid.
After a moment, Max spoke up again. “Either way, you deal with Andrea. Find someone better for her... and make sure Mrs. Curtis understands what’s really at stake.”
“Andrea only wants Holden right now. If you don’t step in, why would she even look at anyone else?”
They both knew Andrea well enough to guess how she really felt.
Max shrugged. “Then let her do what she wants.”
The next day, Felicia booked her flight back to the Capital for Saturday.
Jeremy would handle the Heathview project from here, so Felicia’s work in Northwick was just about done.
She spent Friday morning tying up the last bits of business. By noon, everything was settled.
That afternoon, she headed to Rosewood Street. There was this old bakery there that had been around forever, and there was only one in the whole country. Savannah always bought their pastries whenever she visited, and Anne loved them.
So, Felicia thought she’d pick up some to take home.
When she got there, people were already lining up out the door. Looked like it’d be at least half an hour before she’d even get inside.
She joined the back of the line and pulled out her phone, killing time by scrolling through videos. One caught her eye—a shop selling little kids’ dress. The video showed a girl running through flowers in one of the outfits. Felicia just knew Anne would look adorable in something like that.
Holden kept pace with just a couple of long steps. “Giving up already?”
Felicia didn’t bother replying. She just walked faster, heading for the corner up ahead.
Holden watched her, eyebrows raised. “What’s your problem? I didn’t even do anything, and you’re freaking out. Is your marriage that bad? Is Max not enough for you?”
Felicia froze in the middle of the sidewalk.
Holden stopped too, letting out a low laugh. “What, did I hit a sore spot? Max can’t cut it?”
Felicia glanced at him, her eyes cold and sharp. “Just seeing you makes me want to puke. Leave me alone.”
Her words slid right off him. He just smiled. “So, who do you actually hate more? Me, or Max?”

The readers' comments on the novel: The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback (Felicia and Max)
Nothing today...
The story starting to feel dragged out. Nothing much is happening anymore and Felicia and Max are getting kinda boring.. it’s just the same cycle over and over again...
I used to like this story but now it draaaaags :( Now it seems like all characters are problematic and toxic (yes, ALL characters). Wish the author will give some warmth/emotion in this story. 700+ chapters and still no highlight, no exciting part, just pure coldness and expressionlessness lol...
Max and felicia really need to figure things out. Either humble max down and get him to respect his wife. Or let felicia be a free woman. Max is so ignorant and egomaniac...
I've reached chapter 104 with a broken heart huhuuhu. This is so heavy, so sad. I know the chapters onwards will be more lighter. Can't wait for the pay back time....
When will this novel get an end It's dragging so much. Just kill max asap. How much should felicia bare. Give her freedom from that max and anne. Anne is so annoying child. I know she wants to patch up her mother and father. But sometimes it's really boring.please finish the novel soon. Everyday we have to check for the chapter updates. For God sake finish it off. How many more chapters are there . You could have make the novel short and sweet. I wish if it was in theatre we could have finish it soon....
I am waiting for the update, thank you uploader we reader enjoying the story...
Finally! The robot Max is turning into a human....
The longer it takes to update chapters, the faster I lose my interest. Time to find another novel to indulge to, I guess....
