Felicia ignored him, walking forward without a word.
Holden tagged along behind her, never in a hurry. “Max really is something, isn’t he? Cold to the bone. Not even a little soft spot for his own wife. Remind me again, why’d you come back? Was America really that bad? Or did you just want to prove something to him by reinventing yourself? I almost feel bad for you. Max can’t see what’s right in front of him. No matter how much you change, he’s still hung up on women like Andrea—you know, all looks, no substance.”
“Men are all a little possessive, you know. Watching someone who used to be his move on with another guy... He’s never going to take that well.”
“Evelynn, if what you want is Max’s love, let me save you some trouble. That kind of loyalty doesn’t exist. Women love to chase after some everlasting romance, but guys—guys just want what they want. Love’s a game men always win. And Max? He doesn’t even play by the rules. He’s colder and more ruthless than anyone.”
“He’s hurt you before, and you know what? He probably doesn’t feel a thing about it. Now you’ve made it big, turned everything around, even look amazing, and he still thinks all your success is thanks to him for driving you to change.”
Felicia’s face went tight, her expression darkening with every step she took. At the curb, she raised her hand and hailed a taxi.
A car pulled over. Felicia grabbed the handle and started getting in, but suddenly the door wouldn’t close.
Holden’s hand was clamped on the door.
Felicia shot daggers at him. “Let go.”
Holden just said, “Move over.”
Felicia scowled, seriously tempted to kick him.
The taxi driver chimed in, “Miss, I can’t park here long.”
She stared at Holden, who didn’t budge an inch. Clearly, he wasn’t letting this go.
With a frustrated breath, Felicia got out again and put a couple of steps between herself and Holden.
He watched her, then laughed. “What, you think I’m gonna bite? You keep acting like I’m dangerous.”
He leaned in a little.
Felicia stepped further back, her voice icy. “Stay away from me. Being around you makes me nauseous.”
Darin looked over at her. “Evelynn, get in. I’ll give you a ride.”
Felicia hesitated for a second. Then she walked over, opened the door, and slipped into the passenger seat.
The car pulled smoothly away from the curb.
Darin looked at her, worry creasing his brow. “You look a little pale. Are you alright? Do you need to see a doctor?”
“Thanks, but I’m fine,” Felicia said quietly. “Just let me off at the next intersection, Mr. Foxhall.”
“Why don’t you tell me where you’re going? I’ve got nothing else planned. I can take you there.”
“That’s really not necessary. I’ll get a cab up ahead.”
Darin glanced over again, reading the tension on her face. “What did Holden say to you?”

The readers' comments on the novel: The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback (Felicia and Max)
Nothing today...
The story starting to feel dragged out. Nothing much is happening anymore and Felicia and Max are getting kinda boring.. it’s just the same cycle over and over again...
I used to like this story but now it draaaaags :( Now it seems like all characters are problematic and toxic (yes, ALL characters). Wish the author will give some warmth/emotion in this story. 700+ chapters and still no highlight, no exciting part, just pure coldness and expressionlessness lol...
Max and felicia really need to figure things out. Either humble max down and get him to respect his wife. Or let felicia be a free woman. Max is so ignorant and egomaniac...
I've reached chapter 104 with a broken heart huhuuhu. This is so heavy, so sad. I know the chapters onwards will be more lighter. Can't wait for the pay back time....
When will this novel get an end It's dragging so much. Just kill max asap. How much should felicia bare. Give her freedom from that max and anne. Anne is so annoying child. I know she wants to patch up her mother and father. But sometimes it's really boring.please finish the novel soon. Everyday we have to check for the chapter updates. For God sake finish it off. How many more chapters are there . You could have make the novel short and sweet. I wish if it was in theatre we could have finish it soon....
I am waiting for the update, thank you uploader we reader enjoying the story...
Finally! The robot Max is turning into a human....
