The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback (Felicia and Max) novel Chapter 779

Anne turned to her mother with a determined look. "Mommy, can we go see Daddy? Your sickness hasn't even gone away yet. Daddy cannot get sick too."

Before Felicia could respond to the child, the butler quickly interjected. "Please do not worry, young miss. He will be perfectly fine by tomorrow."

But Anne was stubborn and insisted on going to see her father.

Right at that moment, Max appeared at the entrance of the dining room.

"Daddy."

Felicia looked up at the man. He had changed into a luxurious burgundy silk shirt with the collar slightly undone, revealing the smooth lines of his neck and a faint glimpse of his collarbone. He had clearly just showered, as the tips of his hair were still damp. Under his fringe, his handsome face bore a glaring red bruise on the left cheek and a visible cut on the corner of his mouth. It was incredibly obvious that he had been punched.

Felicia stared at him in utter disbelief. Who in this household could possibly hit him?

Anne noticed the redness on her father's face immediately. She pointed to her own little cheek and asked, "Daddy, what happened to you here?"

Max took his seat at the table with absolute calm. "I accidentally fell. It will be better in a couple of days."

Anne, of course, did not understand what had really happened. "As long as Daddy isn't sick. You still need to take care of Mommy."

"Of course I won't get sick. I have to protect you and Mommy, don't I?"

Continuing with conservative therapy could maintain temporary stability, but it would never resolve the root issue, leaving a massive hidden danger lurking inside her mind. Therefore, Dr. Harrison presented Max with a brutal choice. They could continue with conservative treatment and never truly fix the problem, or they could dig up the agonizing trauma and systematically dismantle it, which undeniably carried monumental risks.

"Based on these two sessions, she is an extremely sensitive person who completely lacks a sense of security. This likely stems from her childhood environment. Her mental foundation is incredibly unstable, much like the foundation of a poorly built house. It is dangerously fragile and susceptible to external damage."

Listening to the doctor's assessment, Darin's face grew progressively darker. His nails dug so fiercely into his palms that he could not even feel the pain.

"However, she is trying very hard to change," the doctor added. "She is perfectly rational and completely aware of her current state. When her condition is stable, she can control herself and live and work just like an ordinary person. But right now, the situation has slipped beyond her control."

Max absorbed the doctor's explanation in silence. A heavy stillness descended upon the room.
