The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback (Felicia and Max) novel Chapter 782

After issuing his final instructions, Dr. Harrison turned to leave.

Darin followed the doctor out into the corridor for a private conversation. "Given the patient's current condition, isn't it highly detrimental for her to remain near someone who previously caused her severe trauma?"

Hearing Darin's pointed question, Dr. Harrison connected the dots. Based on Felicia's terrifying reaction to Max during her episode, it was undeniably clear that Max was the source of immense psychological damage in her past. While Max was currently sparing no expense to treat her, his constant presence was a massive liability. Under normal circumstances, she might cope, but the moment an episode struck, the devastating memories of his abuse would replay endlessly in her fractured mind.

"That is correct," Dr. Harrison admitted softly. "Especially during an active episode, traumatic memories will resurface repeatedly. His presence does indeed negatively impact her recovery."

Darin's eyes darkened fiercely. "Which means it would be infinitely better to place her in a completely relaxing environment, surrounded only by people who make her feel safe."

Dr. Harrison nodded slowly. "For psychiatric and psychological conditions, a stress free environment is absolutely vital."

"Thank you, Doctor. I understand," Darin replied before dismissing him.

Darin walked back into the living room and found Max waiting by the door. "We need to talk," Darin demanded.

The two men sat across from each other in the silent living room. Darin broke the tension first. "I am sure you heard exactly what Dr. Harrison just said."

Max remained completely silent.

"No matter how professional the medical team you hire is, as long as you are here, her episodes will drag her back into the past. To her fragile mind, you are fundamentally no different from Holden. If you truly want her to recover, you will send her back with me right now. You are absolutely not the person she needs by her side."

Jeremy was not surprised. It was the exact same pattern from two years ago. The moment night fell, her emotions spiraled completely out of control, requiring constant supervision. During these episodes, she would endlessly relive the agonizing trauma, her memories twisting and overlapping violently. Whether it was the sheer suffering of her pregnancy or the terror of Holden's captivity, everything crashed down on her at once. Most terrifying of all were her memories of her newborn baby. At the slightest noise, she would believe her baby was crying and desperately search everywhere for her.

Holden's kidnapping was never the sole cause of her mental collapse. The symptoms had already taken root during her pregnancy in New York. Felicia had simply forced herself to suppress the pain. Holden's cruelty was merely the spark that finally obliterated all her remaining defenses.

"I understand," Jeremy replied softly. "I will handle it."

When Felicia finally woke up, it was already noon. The sun was shining brilliantly outside. Anne sat quietly by her mother's bed, playing happily with her building blocks. Hearing the rustle of the sheets, the little girl turned around and saw her mother sitting up. She immediately jumped to her feet. "Mommy, you are awake."

Felicia looked at Anne affectionately and reached out to stroke her soft hair. Just then, Max opened the door and walked inside.
