The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback (Felicia and Max) novel Chapter 831

Darin let out a cold sneer and turned his head to look away.

"I will investigate this matter thoroughly. Nothing like this will ever happen again. You do not need to worry about her side of things, so just go and do what you need to do."

When Max returned to the hospital room, Felicia had already finished her meal. The nanny was just helping her out of the bathroom when Max strode forward. He bent down, scooped the woman up into his arms, and carried her to the bed. After laying her down gently, he pulled the blankets over her. "Get some rest," he murmured softly.

Once the nanny packed up the things and left the room, Max dimmed the lights. He sat down on the sofa and opened his laptop, leaving the hospital room completely silent.

Early the next morning, Ava, Colton, and Greg arrived at the hospital just as the doctor was examining Felicia.

Standing outside the ward, Max offered them a quiet warning. "She needs peace and quiet right now, so please try not to be too loud."

Colton's expression shifted uncomfortably, and a bitter feeling welled up in Ava's chest. "I know how to take care of Felicia," she replied tightly.

"Good," Max said.

The doctor stepped out of the room a moment later. He updated Max with respect. "She is doing much better today than she was yesterday."

Max gave a satisfied nod, allowing Ava, Colton, and Greg to file into the room one after another. Seeing that Felicia was safe and resting comfortably, the three of them finally let out a collective sigh of relief.

Meanwhile, Max walked down the hall to check on Luke. A nurse was carefully changing the dressings on his back, revealing a massive area of scorched skin. Fortunately, he had pulled away from the flames just in time to avoid more catastrophic injuries, but it would still take a significant amount of time to fully heal. Once the nurse finished applying the ointment, she gave Max a polite nod and wheeled her cart out of the room.

Max stepped closer. "How are you feeling?"

"It seems Darin was here last night, though I do not think he actually went into her room to see her," Luke noted. "Given her current condition, is it really a good idea to let them acknowledge each other right now?" Felicia was not going to recover from this anytime soon.

"Darin should know where to draw the line," Greg sighed. "He is her biological brother, after all."

"So what if he is her brother?" Luke countered sharply. "He enabled Andrea to do all those terrible things. Do you have any idea how much psychological torment Felicia has endured over the years because of it? Even if he wants to make amends now, it does not change the fact that he was an accomplice." He knew that whenever Felicia missed her family in the past, she would often cry silently all alone. Even if she had managed to let go of her resentment, discovering that Darin was involved might just break her completely.

Greg let out a heavy sigh. "Let’s worry about that later."

A soft knock interrupted their conversation. Ava gently supported Felicia as they entered the room, prompting Greg and Luke to cut their discussion short. They chatted quietly until Rose arrived, accompanied by an elegant, beautiful woman in a pearl-white dress. Felicia recognized Ivy immediately. After exchanging polite greetings with the group, Felicia quietly excused herself and left the room.
