The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback (Felicia and Max) novel Chapter 840

After Felicia disappeared down the hall, Max calmly set down his chopsticks, stood up, and walked out of the dining room.

"What did you say to her?" Greg asked tensely.

Max paused mid-step. "I am taking her and Anne home first." With that, he continued toward the living room.

Anne was just getting ready to run upstairs to find her mother. When she saw her father approach, she looked up with a frown. "Daddy, Mommy said she was really tired and wanted to rest, but she looked really sick."

"We are going to go home first, sweetie," Max said softly. "Wait right here. I will go get Mommy."

"Okay," Anne nodded obediently.

Max walked upstairs and approached Felicia's bedroom. He knocked softly on the wood. "Felicia."

There was no response. He reached out and turned the knob, but the door was locked from the inside. A dark frown creased his forehead. He immediately went downstairs, retrieved the spare key from the maid, and let himself in.

Felicia was sitting on the edge of the bed, her back facing the door. Her arms hung limply at her sides, and one hand loosely gripped her phone. The speaker was turned on, projecting Andrea's gleeful, venomous, and completely hysterical voice into the quiet room.

"Your own mother abandoned you, and your brother does not want you either! If they ever saw your hideous, scarred face, they would not even bother giving you a second glance! Do you honestly think that just because you look pretty now, Max actually loves you? He was completely disgusted and utterly repulsed by the ugly freak you used to be! Hahaha!"

Andrea hurled her phone across the room, her bloodshot eyes brimming with absolute hatred. Today was supposed to be her magnificent engagement gala. She was dressed in a million-dollar haute couture gown and adorned with hundreds of millions of dollars worth of exquisite jewelry. She had wanted to show the entire world that she, Andrea, the daughter of the Curtis family, was the most noble and envied woman on earth. She wanted to prove that she was marrying an exceptionally handsome, universally desired man. She had wanted to force Max to look at her radiant happiness and feel gut-wrenching regret for being with that old, disgusting Felicia instead of marrying her.

She had spent countless days eagerly anticipating this triumph, only to become the biggest laughingstock in the city. Holden was supposed to personally escort her to the manor, but instead, he had merely sent a driver to pick her up. By the time she arrived at the venue, all the distinguished guests had taken their seats, yet Holden was nowhere to be found, leaving her alone on the stage to endure the piercing, judgmental stares of the entire elite class.

The ceremony was delayed for hours, but the groom never appeared. Gossip spread like wildfire through the ballroom. Many of the guests had only attended to for the sake of Holden. Once they realized Holden was not coming, they immediately began making their excuses and leaving the venue in droves.

Just moments ago, she had accidentally overheard her father screaming on the phone. Their family company had suddenly plunged into a catastrophic crisis. Holden's sudden disappearance was entirely orchestrated by Darin.

Her grand, flawless engagement had been systematically dismantled and turned into a pathetic, humiliating joke.
