The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback (Felicia and Max) novel Chapter 859

Max stared at the document in his hands for a long time before tucking it away in his drawer.

Felicia returned to Oakridge Estate to pack her and Anne's luggage, while the nanny prepared Max's bags as well.

She received a call from Max. "I'm taking Anne back to the main estate tonight. We'll be back later this evening."

"All right," Felicia replied.

Max hummed in acknowledgment.

Silence fell over the line.

"Was there anything else?" Felicia asked.

"Nothing else," Max said.

"I'll hang up then," Felicia said, ending the call.

Felicia received a text message from Darin. [How have you been lately, Felicia?]

She simply stared at the screen, making no move to reply.

Shortly after, another message popped up. [Jeremy mentioned you're heading to Cloudville. The weather there fluctuates a lot, so it's easy to catch a cold. You might not be used to it at first, so please be careful. I mailed you a few things. They should arrive tomorrow morning. Take good care of yourself. I want to come see you after I finish my work, if you're willing to see me. Whatever you want to do, just do it. I will always support you.]

Darin set his phone down, instantly schooling his features into a cold, imposing mask.

"Mr. Foxhall, Mr. Tate has requested a meeting with you tonight at seven," the assistant said respectfully. "Also, Mr. Collin Curtis is returning from abroad tomorrow."

The conflict between the two factions was escalating severely, and Darin showed no signs of backing down. He had successfully breached the core operations of IronGate Industries. This was a move Hank had completely failed to anticipate, proving that Darin's reach extended far deeper than anyone realized. Hank had also clearly misjudged Darin's hidden cards, having fallen for deliberate misinformation Darin had fed him earlier.

Furthermore, Holden had now been dragged back to New York by his father. Mr. McCoy had made it abundantly clear to Hank that the McCoy family wanted no part in the internal warfare between the Curtis family and Darin. As for any potential marriage alliance, that discussion would be tabled indefinitely.

The sudden withdrawal of the McCoy family was an undeniable and devastating blow to the Curtis family. Hank had only just discovered in the last two days that the McCoys pulled out because their overseas capital was being restricted, preventing them from making any reckless moves. It didn't take a genius to figure out who wielded that kind of power. Max was the only one capable of orchestrating it.

Although Roen Capital was still officially collaborating with the Curtis family, Hank had inadvertently offended Roen Capital in the process. Anyone with a discerning eye within the industry could see which side held the upper hand. While many internal allies claimed to remain neutral, their very refusal to take a stand was a choice in itself, especially considering most of them had previously maintained tight, collaborative ties with the Curtis family.
