Darin stepped up and asked the woman about the previous owner. She sighed. “The last owner’s business went under. I heard the company went bankrupt and he had to sell this place last year to pay off debts.”
That news hit Darin hard. He immediately told someone to dig deeper, but Yvonne caught wind of it and shut the investigation down.
He turned to his mother, frustration simmering in his eyes. “Don’t I have the right to know how my own father and sister are doing?”
Yvonne’s face went cold. “And then what? Even if you find out, what difference does it make? You’re not a Ross anymore.”
A bitter smile tugged at Darin’s lips. “Oh, so I’m a Curtis now?”
The look he gave her made something ache in Yvonne’s chest. She couldn’t hide the pain in her eyes.
Back when she’d left with Darin, he was already fourteen. Once they settled in Northwick, he fought her every single day, desperate to go back. It took almost a year for him to finally calm down, but even after that, he tried running away more than once. Each time, she’d have people find him at the airport or the train station and bring him home.
She’d had no choice but to keep someone watching him all day, every day. Even now, she still had eyes on him.
Trying to soften things, Yvonne spoke gently. “Darin, it’s been so many years. Your father probably has a new family by now. If you really care about them, the best thing is just to leave them be.”
Darin let out a low, dry laugh. “Mom, you’re so cold. Why didn’t I inherit that from you?”
“Darin!”
Without another word, Darin turned and walked out. He opened the door and found Andrea standing right outside.
She flinched a little, startled by his stormy expression. “Hey….”
Darin glanced at her but didn’t say anything. He just brushed past and left.
Feeling miserable, she picked up her phone and called Max.
Meanwhile, Felicia was sprawled out on the sofa, half-watching TV. Her phone buzzed. Luke was calling, asking her to try out a mini game his company had just launched. They kept the call going while they played together online, Luke giving her tips and explaining the rules.
Felicia messed up almost immediately.
“I’m starting to think you were not that smart,” Luke teased her.
“Luke, are you trying to get smacked?”
As Max came downstairs, he could hear Felicia’s voice carrying through the house.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback (Felicia and Max)
Nothing today...
The story starting to feel dragged out. Nothing much is happening anymore and Felicia and Max are getting kinda boring.. it’s just the same cycle over and over again...
I used to like this story but now it draaaaags :( Now it seems like all characters are problematic and toxic (yes, ALL characters). Wish the author will give some warmth/emotion in this story. 700+ chapters and still no highlight, no exciting part, just pure coldness and expressionlessness lol...
Max and felicia really need to figure things out. Either humble max down and get him to respect his wife. Or let felicia be a free woman. Max is so ignorant and egomaniac...
I've reached chapter 104 with a broken heart huhuuhu. This is so heavy, so sad. I know the chapters onwards will be more lighter. Can't wait for the pay back time....
When will this novel get an end It's dragging so much. Just kill max asap. How much should felicia bare. Give her freedom from that max and anne. Anne is so annoying child. I know she wants to patch up her mother and father. But sometimes it's really boring.please finish the novel soon. Everyday we have to check for the chapter updates. For God sake finish it off. How many more chapters are there . You could have make the novel short and sweet. I wish if it was in theatre we could have finish it soon....
I am waiting for the update, thank you uploader we reader enjoying the story...
Finally! The robot Max is turning into a human....
