Chapter 431 A Father’s Worry

Time passed quickly. In the blink of an eye, ten days had gone by.

The lab allowed one day off each week.

Scarlett had adjusted her schedule. After staying there for ten straight days, she went home for a visit.

She wanted to check on her parents and her younger brother first.

School hadn’t started yet. Rory had been studying on his own. He also helped with chores around the house. Most things at home were already taken care of.

When Scarlett got back, the vegetable patch in the backyard had already been planted. Everything was growing thick and green.

Hendrix said to her, “These veggies are growing fast. I thought it would take a month, but it’s only been about two weeks, and they’re ready to eat. No bugs either. They look fresh and taste great. I’ll pick some for you to try later.”

It was all because they used that infused spiritual essence to water everything.

In the front yard, there was a large barrel that collected rainwater. Scarlett had added some of the essence into it. She told her father to use that water for the vegetable patch and the plants in the front yard.

So every time Hendrix watered the vegetables or the flowers, he used water from that barrel. Naturally, everything grew strong and healthy.

As for drinking water, Scarlett left that to Madam Weaselly. She had it add a small amount of the essence into the family’s water.

Because of that, Hendrix and Rory were getting stronger day by day.

Her mother was slowly recovering too.

Scarlett went upstairs first to give Daphne her treatment. While she worked, the two of them chatted for a while.

She told her mother about some interesting things that had happened in the lab.

At noon, she had lunch made by Hendrix.

The greens were wonderful–sweet, crisp, and fresh.

In the afternoon, she drove to the hillside villa where Ferris lived.

Will opened the door for her, just like before.

“Ms. Sanchez, please come in,” Will said. “Mr. Stanley is here today. After hearing that Mr. Ferris woke up once, he moved here a few days ago.”

Scarlett nodded.

When she walked into the living room, she saw an elderly man sitting on the couch. His hair and beard were completely white. He didn’t look well. You could see how tired he was just by looking at him.

As soon as he saw Scarlett, he stood up with the help of his cane.

“Ms. Sanchez, I’m Ferris’s father,” he said. “Thank you for being willing to treat him.”

Scarlett replied, “Mr. Stanley, there’s no need to thank me. I’m friends with his family.”

And this family had always been respectable.

Their history went back over a hundred years. Back then, they had been well known and highly regarded. They had served the country with loyalty and courage, sacrificing a great deal.

Stanley himself had a military background. He was someone worthy of respect.

“Please sit,” Scarlett said. “I’ll go check on Mr. Jenkins first.”

She didn’t feel comfortable calling Ferris “uncle” like Simon did.

“I’ll come with you,” Stanley said.

Will quickly stepped forward to support him.

Scarlett nodded, and the three of them went upstairs.

Even climbing the stairs was hard for Stanley. It was clear his health was in bad shape.

Scarlett glanced at him. She knew it was because he had been under too much stress. Now that Ferris had a chance to wake up, his mood might improve.

She could help him recover too.

“Mr. Stanley,” she said, “after I finish treating your son, I can check your pulse and help you recover as well.”

“Thank you, Ms. Sanchez,” Stanley said.

He knew something was wrong with his body. He had hired many doctors before. They all said it was caused by stress. They tried to treat him, but nothing really worked.

But he believed Scarlett would be different.

Her medical skill was the best he had ever seen.

When they reached the second floor, Scarlett followed them into Ferris’s room.

He looked the same as before. He lay quietly on the bed, his hands folded over his chest.

Seeing his youngest son like that, Stanley’s eyes turned red.
