Chapter 435 Seeds of Change
Pinist
More than two months ago, Dragoria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement.
At the time, the Cadmans got nervous. They thought Dragoria might have made real progres: in chip technology. Or maybe another country had surpassed Hawkland, and Dragoria was planning to work with them instead.
But after two months, there was still no news. No breakthroughs. No new chips. Nothing from other countries either.
So the Cadmans slowly relaxed. They figured that by the end of the year, Dragoria would still come back and sign another chip deal with them.
What they didn’t know was this–Dragoria had been holding back. They never announced anything to the public.
But there had been progress.
The chips Scarlett was working on were even more advanced. They could be used in higher- level fields.
As for chips at Hawkland’s current level, Dragoria had already caught up. They just hadn’t said it out loud.
These chips could be used in many areas.
And honestly, even what Scarlett considered “basic” chips were already far better than Hawkland’s best.
Mass production by the end of the year wouldn’t be a problem at all.
As for the research, Scarlett had been leading the entire lab. She guided everyone step by step.
Now, everyone in the lab followed her lead without question. It was nothing like her first day.
Back then, people looked down on her a little.
Now? Not anymore. Since school was about to start, Colin told Scarlett to take care of her enrollment. He gave her three days off.
Most of the work had already been explained clearly, and the team could finally handle things
on their own.
The day before school started, Scarlett went home.
Change
Hendrix was thrilled to see her. “You’re back! Your mom’s been talking about you. She kept saying you should be home soon.”
Daphne had improved too. She could say a few more words now, though still slowly and with a slight stutter.
Her hands and upper body could move a little, though it was still hard. She still couldn’t walk yet.
But things were getting better.
Scarlett hadn’t been home much these past two months. No wonder everyone missed her.
She smiled. “Dad, I’m going upstairs to see Mom.”
She ran up the stairs.
Madam Weaselly, who had been in the front yard, heard her and slipped in from the backyard. It followed Scarlett upstairs.
The family had no idea Madam Weaselly could talk.
They didn’t know she had gained intelligence.
Madam Weaselly didn’t want too many people
So Scarlett never told her family people to know. She just wanted to focus on its training.
To them, Madam Weaselly was just a normal pet weasel.
Hendrix had even built a nice little wooden house in the yard for Madam Weaselly and Blackie.
Though Blackie was rarely around.
Most of the time, Madam Weaselly stayed there alone.
Now that Scarlett was back, it missed her and followed her upstairs.
Even though it had gained awareness, it was still an animal at heart.
It had already accepted Scarlett as her human, promising to stay loyal to her for life.
Upstairs, Scarlett went to see Daphne.
Daphne was awake. When she saw her daughter, she smiled softly. With effort, she lifted her hand and waved. “Scarlett…”
Her voice was slow but much better than before.
Chapter 435 Seeds of Change
Back then, she couldn’t move or speak at all. She could only show small expressions on her face.
Scarlett walked over and hugged her. “Mom, I missed you.”
When she was little, Scarlett loved to act spoiled around her mother. But after Daphne fell into a coma, she seemed to grow up overnight.
Even now, though she was truly grown, she still couldn’t help acting like a child in front of her
mom.
Daphne hugged her back with all her strength and gently patted her back.
They stayed like that for a while. Then Scarlett started chatting with her. She talked about small, everyday things from the lab.
She didn’t mention anything about the research itself. She knew her mom cared more about her daily life.
They stayed upstairs for about half an hour before Hendrix called her down for dinner.
He brought food upstairs first and fed Daphne.
Scarlett and Rory waited downstairs. After Daphne finished eating and Hendrix came down, the three of them had dinner together.
Rory was starting school the next day.
He was in his first year of high school.
The whole family had already moved their residency to Jyncrest City, and Rory’s school transfer was all set.
