The Vengeful Warrior Luna's Return novel Chapter 10

Astra’s POV

Isla's hand paused mid-air for just a moment, then slowly lowered.

Her voice carried a hint of stiffness that was barely perceptible,“I’m not the kind of she-wolf who keeps score,”

She avoided Kieran’s gaze, her tone dropping as she continued.

“If you have your own pup, you’ll have a stronger foothold in the pack. Whether he’s willing to… be with you, that’s between the two of you.”

The edge in her tone told me she was already irritated.

Kieran instantly tightened his grip on her hand, rushing to reassure her.

"Don’t worry, Isla. Once she’s pregnant, I’ll never set foot in her room again!"

“No need to promise to me. I’m not that petty, I can share mates with you.” Isla muttered, turning her face away, though the annoyance in her eyes said otherwise.

I stared at the two of them, playing off each other as if this was some reasonable conversation.

The absurdity of it made my blood run hot.

I stood up abruptly, glaring down at Isla, letting my height and the weight of my anger bear down on her.

“You're also a she-wolf, how can you even say something like that?”

Such a powerful she-wolf should uphold the dignity and status of all she-wolves, should she not?

Did she really believe that all she-wolves were beneath the males?

A she-wolf should be pleasure, and completely obeisant when her Alpha wants a harem?!

Startled by my intensity, Isla leaned back instinctively, her hand pressing against the stone table for support.

“You’ve fought on battlefields. Does that give you the right to belittle she-wolves like you?!"

"Do you think I, Astra, am only surviving because I can spit out pups? Is the legacy of my family meant to be caged as someone’s accessory?”

“You’re making a big deal out of nothing,” Isla shot back, brows knitted like she couldn’t fathom why I was so riled up. “Every Omega in the pack lives like that.”

“Alpha Kieran,” I cut in, my voice sharp. “I want to break our bond. No more words, before this gets uglier.”

“Break the bond? Are you trying to threaten me?” Isla’s laugh was cold, sharp as a knife.

She stepped closer, cold eyes locking on mine.

“I’m only here to make sure certain people don’t play the victim, using the bond’s end to sabotage my bonding with Kieran—the bonding we earned with blood and battle. I won’t let you ruin it.”

I shook my head, a dry laugh in my throat.

“Just go. This conversation is a waste of breath. You fight for the pack, and I have no wish to spit venom at our warriors.”

My father and brothers all died on the battlefield. Warriors who bled for the pack held the highest honor in my heart, no matter how much I disagreed with them.

“Bekkie, see them out,” I said, lowering my gaze to hide the frost in my eyes.

Bekkie had been eavesdropping outside, teeth gritted in frustration.

She burst through the door, anger blazing in her eyes as she stepped between me and Isla, creating a barrier.

“You two can moon over each other all you want, but don’t you dare come here to tarnish Luna Astra! You think a few war honors make you untouchable? The Pack Hale's honor is much more than yours!”

“Watch your tongue!” Isla snapped, wolf eyes blazing, the growl in her voice vibrating the air. “A low-born like you dares raise your voice to me?”
