Chapter 13 Unexpected Allies

The forum was filled with nothing but vicious comments telling Larissa to get out of the school.
By the time Larissa found out, the incident had already spread like wildfire across campus,
She knew that what happened before would eventually come to light.
She just hadn’t expected Julia to lose patience on her very first day at school.
Larissa couldn’t understand why Julia hated her so much. She had never once provoked her.
Would the Sowles see that post too?
Larissa tightened her grip on her phone. Would they doubt her the same way everyone else did and believe she was guilty too?
Just the thought of the Sowles looking at her with the same disgust as everyone else made her chest feel tight and suffocating.
“Larissa, you look really pale. Are you feeling sick?” Nancy asked with concern.
Larissa looked at her in confusion. “Shouldn’t you hate me like everyone else?”
Under normal circumstances, anyone who saw that video would think she was a heartless, ungrateful monster, a terrible person, a lunatic.
Those labels had followed her throughout her previous life.
Even when she died, she could still hear the Turners calling her by those same cruel names.
Back then, she had never understood why the family she desperately wanted would use the most cruelest words imaginable to tear her down and manipulate her.
Now that she had been given a second life, she would no longer foolishly long for things that were never meant to be hers.
Liking someone needed no reason, but hating someone always did.
Nancy smiled softly.
“I believe you’re not that kind of person. I liked you from the very first moment I saw you. No matter what others say, I don’t believe you would do something like that. I just feel bad that you were sent to Ravenmind Island when you were only 12. But I also really admire you. You’re amazing. I’ve heard my parents talk about that place. I never imagined someone could actually come back from there.”
This was the first time Larissa had ever heard someone say something like that.
The words Nancy spoke were something she had never heard in her previous life, not even at the moment
of her death.
So maybe she hadn’t lived such a miserable life after all. Someone believed her.

It seemed her classmates weren’t as simple and harmless as they appeared.
Everyone had secrets of their own.
But the fact that Nancy could say something like that meant they were not enemies.
“Thank you, I really didn’t do those things, and I really am amazing,” Larissa replied calmly.
“Larissa, I believe you too. You’re not the kind of person they’re describing. Honestly, I think Julia is fake and pretentious,” a boy behind her suddenly said as he stood up.
Larissa turned around. He was a sunny–looking boy with a righteous expression.
“Hi, Larissa. I sit behind you. I’m Alvin Bennett.”
