Chapter 183 A House Divided

As soon as Julia heard the news, the smile on her face disappeared. She screamed, “Dad, I don’t want to transfer to another school! I want to go back to Marcrest High!”
Morris frowned. His voice turned cold and firm.
“That’s not possible. Stop making a scene. You were the one who challenged Larissa. You cheated, and you still lost. A bet is a bet. You lost, so you leave the school. That was your choice. You have no one to blame.”
Julia stomped her foot, furious.
“Dad, why are you defending that wrench? She made everyone laugh at me. She got me dragged to the police station. She got me expelled. Shouldn’t you stand up for me? It’s all her fault! I won’t let her get away with this!”
Morris’s face darkened.
“That’s enough. Stop provoking Larissa. Because of your past behavior, Turner Group is almost bankrupt. Don’t you understand the situation? Larissa is no longer someone we can mess with.”
Julia glared at him with hatred.
“Just admit it. You’re useless. I end up getting bullied because of this.”
Then she threw herself into Priscilla’s arms and began to cry.
Priscilla gently patted her back and looked at Morris with soft eyes.
“Morris, Julia is still young. She’s suffered so much. How can you speak to her like that? Can’t you be a little more patient with her?”
At that moment, Morris felt deeply disappointed with them.
He had seen it clearly just now. Julia, the daughter he had loved and spoiled, actually hated him.
He frowned and scolded, “I spoiled her too much. I only believed her side of the story and drove Larissa out of the house.
“Now Larissa becomes a Sowles. We can’t cross her. I know Larissa. If we stop causing trouble, she may show mercy because we raised her.
“I’m begging you. Don’t provoke her and turn her into our enemy.”
Julia was about to argue more, but Priscilla quickly stopped her. She signaled for her to stay quiet.
“Alright, honey,” Priscilla said gently. “I’ll talk to Julia. I’ll help her accept it.”
Morris nodded. He pressed a hand to his stomach and walked slowly toward his study.
Julia didn’t notice he looked unwell. Priscilla, who claimed she loved him, also didn’t notice.

He had been home for half an hour, but his wife hadn’t realized he was sick.
Did she really love him?
Did she really care?
Morris was disappointed.
He thought about Larissa again.

In the past, whenever his stomach acted up, she would cook him seafood chowder. She would remind him to take his medicine.
He had treated it as something normal. Something easy to get. Nothing special.
Now he understood; he had not seen the situation clearly.
She was the only one in that house who truly cared about his health.
And how had he treated her?
He had driven the obedient, intelligent daughter away.
Larissa, I’m sorry.
