Chapter 197 Shaking Off the Tail

“Whatever you say goes. I’ll listen to you,” Floria said softly. “Now that you’re feeling better, when are we going back to Eldercrown?”
“Not just yet,” Isaac replied. “I still have some things to take care of here. In a few days, I’ll ask the wonder doctor to check you again. Didn’t you say you’ve always been weak? Other doctors couldn’t help, but this one has real skills. He’ll cure you.”
Alvin didn’t even know why he wanted to stay. He just felt that Marcrest was a place he couldn’t leave yet.
“Alvin, what’s so great about this backwater city?” Floria asked. “Why won’t you come home?”
She hadn’t expected Alvin to refuse to leave.
Is it because of her?
Larissa?
That shameless woman?
Alvin’s patience ran out.
“After the wonder doctor checks you, you’re going back to school. Don’t you have a life?! Why are you following me around every day?”
“No… no need…” Floria stammered.
A medical exam?
What a joke. She wasn’t sick.
She simply pretended to be weak to gain Isaac’s sympathy.
If the wonder doctor examined her, everything would be exposed.
“I need to go to bed now. Isaac, you go ahead and do your work.”
Floria almost ran away.
Larissa and Kate left the auction house.
On the way back, Kate drove the sports car and teased, “Boss, that was ruthless. Mr. Bennett is the golden boy of Marcrest. You played him so badly he lost over 40 billion dollars. Aren’t you worried he’ll get revenge on you? What did he do to you?”
Larissa let out a cold laugh. “You call that playing him? He willingly played along. Compared to what they did to me, today was me collecting a little interest. Remember this: anyone from the Bennetts is bad news.”
Kate had known Larissa for years. It was the first time she had seen her show such deep hatred toward
someone.

The Bennetts must have crossed a serious line.
Since Larissa didn’t want to talk about it, Kate didn’t push further.
“Should I drop you at the office?”

“There’s a car behind us,” Larissa said, glancing at the rearview mirror. “We’ll switch seats and shake the
tail.”
They quickly traded places.
“Hold tight,” Larissa said.
She shifted into third gear. The car shot forward like an arrow.
Larissa was an excellent driver. She weaved through traffic with ease, changing lanes fast and smoothly. The car behind them struggled to keep up, sometimes close, sometimes far.
Kate grabbed the handle tightly, her face tense.
“Boss, that car is really persistent. Why are they chasing us? Do you know who it is? The plate looks like it’s from Eldercrown. Could it be Mr. Bennett?”
There was a hint of excitement in her voice. She hadn’t ridden this fast in a long time.
