Chapter 262 A Warm Reunion

The moment Ruby saw her son on the screen, her tears broke loose. Her voice trembled as she spoke. “Carter, are you doing well? It’s me.”
It had been two years since she had last seen her son.
What mother wouldn’t worry about her son after so long?
Russ felt his throat tighten. He quickly held back the tears and forced a bright smile.
“Mom, I’m doing great. Just look at me; don’t I look full of energy? Once I win the championship, I’ll head home and spend some time with you.”
Russ leaned closer to the screen and chuckled, unable to resist teasing. “Well, Carter, it looks like you finally came to your senses. You even remembered to tell Mom you’re safe. But why are you at the hospital?”
Before Carter could answer, Thea stepped forward easily and greeted Russ as if they had known each other for years.
“You must be Russ. Hi, I’m Thea. I’m Carter’s friend.”
Larissa blinked.
That was confident.
It seemed the two of them were already getting along quite well.
Carter’s face instantly turned red.
“Don’t listen to her,” he said quickly. “She’s Larissa’s friend. She got hurt while saving Larissa, so I came to the hospital to take care of her.”
But Russ knew his brother far too well.
If Carter didn’t care about someone, he wouldn’t make the extra effort to stay at the hospital and take care
of them.
Russ lifted a brow and flashed a mischievous grin.
“Well, then you should take good care of her. She got hurt saving Larissa; that makes her our benefactor You’d better thank Thea properly for all of us.”
Carter froze, looking so awkward that he didn’t know where to put his hands
Of course he understood what Russ was hinting at
Ruby had been wiping tears just moments ago, the moment she heard this, her face brightened with delight.
Was Carter finally bringing home a girlfriend?

He had always been quiet, distant, and hard to approach. She never expected him to fall for someone.
To her, this was wonderful news.
She hurriedly said, “When you come home, make sure to bring this young lady with you. She’s Larissa’s friend, right? Bring her over so we can properly thank her for saving Larissa.”
Thea smiled openly and waved at the camera.
“Don’t worry. I’ll take good care of Carter. And when the time comes, I’ll definitely come home with him.”
Carter turned even redder, the color spreading all the way to his ears.
“Hey, don’t say things like that,” he muttered.
Yet his gaze kept drifting toward Thea, soft and warm every time it landed on her.
Standing nearby, Larissa quietly covered her mouth and laughed.
Thea already won Carter over? That was fast. She really was impressive.
Watching Carter act like this was strangely entertaining. It looked like Thea had him completely under control.
Russ, of course, didn’t miss the chance to keep teasing his brother.
“Carter, the girl already said it herself. You’d better take this seriously.”
At last, Ruby’s smile became calm and sincere.
“Larissa, you truly are my lucky star. If it weren’t for you, the knot in my heart would never have been undone. I’m so happy right now.”
She reached out and held Larissa’s hand tightly.
Larissa smiled gently. “Mom, I’m very happy to come home too.”
Her life now was full of warmth and happiness.
She had been given a second chance and gained a family who truly loved her, filling the regrets she carried from her previous life.
“Lucky star? She’s far more than that,” Russ said proudly.
“I heard Larissa just won first place in the Global Academic Competition
