“I trust you. This proposal is excellent,” Larissa said. “Working with you is the right decision.”
She picked up a pen and signed her name neatly at the bottom of the document.
Wesley took the proposal and set it aside without even glancing at it. Then he slid a gift box across the table.
“Larissa, this is a gift for your SAT results,” he said. “Congratulations on such an impressive score.”
Larissa raised an eyebrow. She took the box and opened it. Inside was an Everheart necklace worth nearly 500 million.
She paused for a moment. What is he trying to say?
When she returned from Moblos before, she had once wondered if Wesley liked her. But afterward, they hadn’t seen each other for a long time. Someone who truly liked her wouldn’t disappear like that.
So she had decided she must have been overthinking it.
But he was giving her a necklace that clearly symbolized love. It was hard not to question his intentions.
“Mr. Robinett,” Larissa said calmly as she closed the box, “why don’t you just tell me why you’re giving me this necklace? Otherwise, I can’t accept such an expensive gift.”
Wesley looked at her quietly. “You still don’t understand how I feel?”
Larissa closed the box fully and met his gaze.
She asked lightly. “What exactly am I supposed to understand?”
A teasing smile appeared on her lips.
“People say you’ve never been interested in women. Are you saying you have fallen in love with me?”
Before Wesley could speak, she added with faint sarcasm, “Or do you simply have a preference for girls much younger than you?”
The words Wesley had been about to say died in his throat.
He hadn’t expected her rejection to be this strong.

Larissa pushed the necklace back toward him.
“Mr. Robinett, this necklace doesn’t suit me. You should take it back.”
She paused briefly. “Our business together is already settled. We don’t owe each other anything. If I accepted something this valuable, I wouldn’t feel comfortable.”
Then she added politely, “But when I get accepted into university, I’ll send you an invitation.”
Wesley didn’t take the necklace. He only looked at her. His fists slowly clenched, and a faint hurt flickered in his eyes.
“So that’s how you see me,” he said quietly.
“Is our business settled? You know how I feel about you. Forget it. Since Ms. Sowle wants to keep your distance, I’ll wait for that invitation.”
He gently took her hand and placed the necklace in her palm. “A gift given shouldn’t be taken back. If you don’t want it, throw it away.”
Then he turned and walked out.
Larissa watched him leave. For a brief second, the confident and powerful Wesley seemed to shed his armor, revealing a glimpse of unexpected loneliness.
She shook her head. That had to be her imagination. How was that possible?
A man like him would never feel lonely.
Holding the necklace, Larissa left the room.
At the same time, Morris arrived at the hospital lecture hall. But when he stepped inside, the room was empty. The Wonder Doctor was nowhere to be found.
What is going on?
The Wonder Doctor is the only person who could Mom.
I have to find her.
“What do we do now?” Morris muttered anxiously.
Julia rolled her eyes.
That witch should just die already. Saving her will cost a fortune.
