“If you’re willing to help,” Morris said, “we’re ready to donate 50 million dollars.”

The hospital director looked uneasy. She suspected the Wonder Doctor had kept her identity hidden today because she didn’t want to deal with anyone directly.
But thinking of the patient, she answered carefully.
“Mr. Turner, the Wonder Doctor has always been very mysterious. I don’t have his contact information.”
She paused before adding, “The Wonder Doctor didn’t come to the hospital today. I can ask around for you. If he is willing, he may contact you himself. For now, please go home and wait for news.”
Morris nodded, clearly disappointed. “Thank you, Director.”
The Wonder Doctor hadn’t appeared.
Through the hospital room window, Morris saw his mother lying weakly in bed. Her condition was getting worse. They couldn’t wait much longer.
At this point, the only thing he could do was fulfill her wish and ask Larissa to come take care of her.
He called Larissa again.
The phone rang twice before abruptly cutting off. The call was blocked.
Morris’s face darkened instantly.
He stood there gripping his phone, anxious and frustrated.
Julia spoke from beside him. “Dad, why don’t you try my phone? Maybe Larissa will answer if it’s my number. She might even pick up just to humiliate me.”
Morris thought it was possible. He took Julia’s phone and called again.
After a few rings, Larissa answered.
“Larissa, it’s me,” Morris said quickly. “Your grandmother isn’t doing well. She wants to see you. Can you come to the hospital?”
He tried to keep his voice gentle.

By now, he understood something clearly.
:
Larissa was no longer the timid girl who once obeyed his
every
word.
Everything had changed the day she cut ties with his family.
More than once, Morris had asked himself the same question. Do you regret it?

If he had treated Larissa just a little better… if she hadn’t been so deeply hurt… she would never have left like this.
Their relationship would not have turned so cold.
Deep down, Morris had always known the truth. Larissa was smart. Among all the children, she was also the most devoted.
But because his biological daughter disliked her, he allowed others to hurt Larissa again and again.
If he had known she would one day leave the family, if he had known he would lose her-
He would never have treated her that way. He would never have destroyed the last bit of affection between them.
After a brief silence, Larissa spoke. Her voice was calm and distant.
“Mr. Turner, I’ve already told you. I have nothing to do with your family now.
“If Sally wants to see me, why didn’t you think of that when you humiliated me and threw me out of the house?
“Now that she’s sick, suddenly you remember me. Don’t you think that’s too late?
“And didn’t all of you say Julia was the one who cared for Sally and help her recover?
“Why don’t you let her stay by the hospital bed and be the dutiful granddaughter? Why call an outsider like me?”
Morris had no answer. All he could do was plead.
“Larissa, I was wrong. I know that now. I already know the truth.
“Every time your grandmother got sick, you were the one who stayed by her bedside and took care of her.
