No matter how much she gave, it would never match one sweet smile from his real granddaughter. In the end, all the credit still went to Julia.
Larissa had done everything she could. Yet they still said she had hidden motives. They believed she only cared about the family fortune.
At that moment, her heart turned completely cold.
The Turners had crushed her heart again and again.
Fine. She wanted to see what would happen to George this time. Without her care, would his illness really get better?
Now that she had a second chance at life, she would never try to please anyone again.
She would only love herself.
Leonard listened to his daughter and nodded.
“Alright, I’ll head to the old estate and feel things out first. Stay safe if you’re going out with Gavin. If anything dangerous happens, tell me right away. Tonight, have dinner with me, then move to the villa.”
Larissa agreed without any protest. “Okay, Dad. Don’t worry about me.”
She was honestly past the age of needing this kind of protection.
But she had to admit, her family made her feel warm inside. Maybe this was what happiness felt like.
After Leonard left, Larissa finished her last strawberry and was about to go.
“If I want to walk tomorrow, can you make that happen
Isaac suddenly spoke.
Larissa looked at him, confused. “What’s the rush?”
“You said I could walk in three days. I’ve been lying in this bed like useless baggage for two years. Do you know how badly I want to stand up and walk?”
What Isaac didn’t say out loud was this: Tomorrow is their grandfather’s birthday party.
If he wasn’t there to stand beside Larissa, he worried people might bully her.
Their dad was too soft–hearted toward the family elders.
He was overly forgiving toward his brother.
Isaac truly worried about Larissa being left unprotected.
“Isaac, there is a way,” Larissa said slowly. “But it will be painful. Are you sure you can’t wait two more days?”
Isaac’s eyes lit up at once. “I’m sure. A little pain doesn’t matter.”
If it meant protecting you, pain meant nothing.

“Alright,” Larissa said. “I’ll force the treatment now. It will hurt a lot. But by tomorrow morning, you’ll be able to move on your own.”
Isaac nodded firmly. “I’m ready.”
Larissa took a deep breath and pulled silver needles from her medical kit.
Her face turned serious. She carefully found the right pressure points. Then she pushed the needles quickly into Isaac’s legs, one after another.
During the treatment, Isaac was in terrible pain. Big drops of sweat rolled down his forehead. His hands gripped the bedsheets so tightly his knuckles turned white. But he made no sound.
Larissa’s hands trembled slightly too. This was a forced treatment. One small mistake could cause real damage.
Second by second, time passed. Sweat covered Larissa’s forehead too. Finally, the last needle went in.
She let out a long breath. “Isaac, it’s done. Try moving your legs.”
