Seated at the head of the conference table at NextCore, Alexander's eyes were fixed on the grayed-out camera icon next to Danielle's name on the screen. He frowned.
“Does Ninesky have any additional comments regarding the timeline for technical integration?” Alexander suddenly asked, his gaze still locked on the screen, his tone unreadable.
Danielle paused to gather her thoughts. “We believe the R&D period for Phase Three could be extended by a week. This is mainly to account for the lead time needed for core component manufacturing and to avoid any quality issues down the line.” Her voice faded, growing weaker as the pain in her throat intensified, forcing her to stop and take a sip of water.
Alexander's frown deepened. He remembered the hoarseness in her voice on the phone last night. Was she really sick?
The meeting continued, but Danielle spoke less and less, mostly just murmuring assent when required. She leaned against the headboard, her eyelids growing heavier. If not for sheer willpower, she would have already fallen asleep.
Finally, the meeting drew to a close. The facilitator summarized the key points and asked if there were any final questions.
Just then, Gian's voice, tinged with obvious worry, came through the speakers. “Danielle, just wait at home. I'll head over as soon as I'm done here at the office and bring you something to eat.”
