Alexander pulled into the driveway of the villa, the house he had once shared with Danielle.
A few of the motion-activated lights in the stairwell were out, casting the space in a dim, gloomy light as he walked up the stairs one step at a time.
The moment he opened the door, the faint scent of gardenias washed over him—Danielle’s favorite. He’d never changed the home fragrance since the divorce.
Everything in the living room was just as she had left it.
On the TV console sat the only family photograph they had, a picture of the four of them. In it, Danielle was smiling gently while Raffy was nestled in his arms, his eyes curved into crescents. Niki stood beside Danielle, holding her hand.
It was the family portrait Danielle had always insisted they take.
Alexander’s gaze dropped to the photo, and he just stared.
An unknown amount of time passed before his phone rang.
It was an international call from Keegan Clarke.
Alexander answered, and Keegan’s voice came through the line. “Alex, I heard you started a new company and even rebooted the 07 fighter jet project?”
“Not bad. But why didn’t you give me a heads-up about such a big move?”
Keegan was one of the few friends who knew about his past. He had later moved abroad to grow his own company, and though they didn't meet often, they stayed in regular contact.
Leaning back on the sofa, Alexander replied calmly, “It was just finalized. I didn’t get a chance to tell you.”
“You haven’t changed a bit, always shouldering everything yourself.”
Keegan sighed. “I heard you’re working with Ninesky? Danielle is at Ninesky too, right? What exactly are you planning with all this?”
Alexander fell silent.
When he didn’t answer, Keegan didn’t press him, but his tone grew serious. “Alex, even though I’m overseas, I’ve heard a few things.”

I hope daniele will have no end game with alexander since whatever the reason is, he only give her too much grievencess. I hope there will be another male character with stronger present than alexander to have the end game with daniele. OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
