He had just finished his meeting. The sleeves of his dress shirt were rolled up to his forearms, revealing their strong lines, and his expression still held a hint of seriousness from the conference.
His steps faltered when he saw Danielle’s pale face and the way she was struggling to compose herself. His gaze fell to the plate of desserts.
“Not to your liking?” he asked, his voice a fraction lower than usual, his tone unreadable. “Have something to tide you over. Lunch in the cafeteria won’t be ready for a little while.”
Danielle didn’t look at him. She just shook her head and took another sip of the warm water on her desk. “No, thank you. I’m not hungry.”
Her voice was soft, with a faint tremor she couldn't hide.
She felt a dull ache in her lower abdomen.
Maybe it was just the lingering effects of her cold.
She had been so busy lately, so tired, running on fumes with no time to properly rest.
Alexander’s gaze lingered on her face for a few seconds, taking in the exhaustion in her eyes and the paleness of her lips. His brow furrowed almost imperceptibly.
He remembered their chance encounter at the hospital that morning, the scattered test results, and an inexplicable weight settled in his chest.
“Nash, go to the cafeteria and get Chief Engineer Crawford a bowl of something light, a nourishing soup perhaps.”
“Right away, Mr. Davidson.”
Nash left, and the office was suddenly filled with an awkward silence, leaving only Danielle and Alexander.
Danielle leaned back in her chair, turning her head to look out the window, doing her best to avoid Alexander’s gaze.
She could feel his eyes on her, probing, filled with an emotion she couldn’t decipher, and it made her skin crawl.
“If you’re not feeling well, you should rest. The handover can wait,” Alexander said suddenly, breaking the silence.
Danielle’s body tensed, but she didn’t turn around. “Thank you for your concern, Mr. Davidson, but I’m fine. It won’t affect my work.”
Alexander said no more, simply standing there and watching her.

I hope daniele will have no end game with alexander since whatever the reason is, he only give her too much grievencess. I hope there will be another male character with stronger present than alexander to have the end game with daniele. Hated that in the name of love or protection alexander can treat another woman better, not just once, but with this new lorie girl... Oh my blood pressure getting higher cause by the new plot :(...

Oh poor Bianca... regrets, regrets :)...
This is it! Revenge. Way to go Dani....
OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
