Alexander’s gaze was placid, yet it seemed to hide a turbulent storm of emotions. “Danielle.”
Danielle raised an eyebrow, looking at him.
The man looked like he wanted to say more, but he stopped himself.
There was really no need to say anything else.
Danielle already understood everything perfectly.
He had explained about Millie.
She knew the truth in her heart.
The misunderstanding between them was resolved, but the reason they still couldn’t be together was because of him, not her.
“I’m sorry,” Alexander said.
With that, he turned and left.
Danielle watched him go, taking a deep breath.
Her hands, hidden at her sides, were clenched into tight fists.
Some people could be right beside you, yet feel more distant than the stars.
They were always a choice, two parallel lines destined never to cross.

Later that afternoon, after finishing her work, Danielle organized the files on her desk. As she stood up to leave, a sudden, sharp pain shot through her abdomen.
It felt as if an invisible hand were viciously twisting inside her, a dragging pain that made her face go ashen. She couldn’t help but double over, pressing her hands tightly against her stomach.
“Chief Engineer Crawford, what’s wrong?”
An engineer nearby was the first to notice something was amiss and rushed over, his voice filled with concern. “You’re so pale! Are you feeling unwell?”
Danielle was in too much pain to speak. Cold sweat beaded on her forehead and trickled down her cheeks, soaking her collar.
Others gathered around, asking questions in a flurry of worried voices. Someone handed her a tissue, and another offered to get Nash.
Just then, Alexander emerged from his office and saw Danielle crouched on the floor.

I hope there will be another male character with stronger present than alexander to have the end game with daniele.
