Her mind went blank, her only thought to get out of the parking garage and back to where there were people. She scrambled frantically toward the corner leading to the elevators, not watching where she was going, and crashed straight into a solid chest.
The man she ran into steadied her with a firm hand on her arm, and a familiar scent washed over her. It was Alexander. Danielle's heart was pounding so hard she thought it might burst from her chest. Still reeling from the scare, she looked up, her face pale and beaded with cold sweat, the terror still lingering in her eyes. She instinctively glanced behind her. The figure that had been following her had vanished around the corner, leaving only an empty corridor under the stark, white lights. Nothing.
He looked down at her, his brow furrowed with concern. "What's wrong?" Danielle's fingers, clutching her purse strap, were still trembling. She took a deep breath, trying to steady her voice. "What are you doing here?" She deflected his question with one of her own. His presence meant she was safe for the moment; the shadow that had been chasing her seemed to have disappeared.
"I came to drop something off for Niki. That model rocket she wanted last week arrived." Alexander's gaze swept over the empty passageway behind her. He could clearly sense Danielle's distress. "What are you afraid of?"
Danielle's lips parted, but no words came out, as if something was caught in her throat. A fresh wave of fear washed over her as she thought of Niki walking to and from school alone each day. Her heart clenched. What if that shadow was targeting their child? She couldn't bear the thought and clenched her fists tightly.

I hope daniele will have no end game with alexander since whatever the reason is, he only give her too much grievencess. I hope there will be another male character with stronger present than alexander to have the end game with daniele.
