The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 1057

Danielle lowered her gaze. "I don't think we have anything to talk about," she said softly. Alexander watched her in silence, his gaze heavy, as if trying to find something behind her calm expression. He opened his mouth to speak, but in the end, he just gave a slow nod and said nothing more.

They just stood there, looking at each other in silence. For a moment, time seemed to stand still. Danielle could feel Alexander's gaze on her, laced with an imperceptible complexity, but she didn't look back or linger. After a few seconds, she turned and walked steadily toward the elevators.

Alexander remained where he was, watching her back grow smaller as she approached the elevator, watching the doors slide open and then shut, completely obscuring her from view. Only then did he slowly look away. He pressed his fingers to his temples as a dull, persistent ache spread through his chest.

The elevator ascended quickly. Danielle leaned against the wall and closed her eyes, trying to calm her racing thoughts. The earlier fear hadn't completely dissipated, and Alexander's misunderstanding had only added a layer of frustration that left her exhausted. All she wanted was to get home to Niki, where she knew she would feel safe.

The moment she opened her front door, a familiar warmth enveloped her. Niki was sitting on the living room rug, a crayon in her hand, scribbling on a piece of paper. Hearing the door, she immediately looked up with a radiant smile. "Mommy, you're home!"

Danielle's tense nerves instantly relaxed. She hurried over, sat down beside her daughter, and stroked her hair. "Were you a good girl at school today? Did you give the nanny any trouble when she picked you up?"
