"Don't be impulsive," Danielle said, quickly grabbing her arm. "I don't have any proof, so calling the police won't help. If we tip them off, it could make things even more dangerous. I'll just move and stay far away."
Kirsten looked at her friend's pale face, her heart aching. Her tone softened. "Then you definitely have to move in here. The security is tight, and I'll have my bodyguards keep an extra eye out. I'll make sure you and Niki are safe."
Seeing the determination in Kirsten's eyes, Danielle felt a surge of warmth. In her most helpless moment, she was so lucky to have a friend like this by her side. She nodded. "Okay, I'll move in."
Kirsten patted her on the shoulder and smiled. "That's more like it. Don't worry. As long as I'm here, no one will bully you or Niki. Now, let's go pick out some dolls for Niki and decorate her new room."
They drove to the mall. As it happened, there was a charity gala the following week, and Kirsten pulled Danielle into a high-end boutique, invitation in hand. "I heard this place just got a new couture collection. We need to find you something to make a statement. Our Ms. Crawford has to steal the show."
Danielle shook her head with a helpless smile but let Kirsten pull her along anyway. Since deciding to move, the anxiety that had been weighing on her had lifted, and she was finally in the mood to shop.
A sales associate eagerly recommended several styles, but Kirsten's eyes landed on a champagne-colored, strapless gown adorned with delicate rhinestones that shimmered under the lights. "This one is perfect for you. Go on, try it."
