“All I want is for the two of you to be safe. Everything else, including my own life and my illness, comes after that. I won’t force anything else.”
She knew he was likely telling the truth, but the old wounds remained. The days of being misunderstood and neglected couldn't be erased by a simple promise of protection. She didn't say anything more, just gave a slight nod, a silent acceptance of his proposal. Staring at the pages that documented the dangers around her, Danielle knew that from this moment on, her relationship with Alexander had become complicated once more.
---
Leaving NextCore, Danielle sat in her car, her mind replaying the conversation with Alexander. The frank admissions about misunderstandings, protection, and the past swirled in her head like a tangled mess she couldn't sort out.
She drove back to Ninesky and went to her office, but she couldn’t focus on her work. Her fingers hovered over the keyboard for a long time without typing a single word. After what felt like an eternity, her office door opened gently. Gian walked in with a mug of hot milk and placed it beside her hand.
“You’ve seemed distracted ever since you got back. Did something happen? If you need to talk, I’m here to listen.”
Danielle looked up into Gian's concerned eyes and felt a wave of warmth. She shook her head, her voice tinged with exhaustion. “It’s nothing, just some things I haven’t figured out yet. I’ll tell you when I’m ready.”
Gian didn't press her. He just nodded, his tone accepting. “Alright, no rush. But remember, whatever happens, you don’t have to carry it alone. Call me anytime you need anything. I don’t care if it’s the middle of the night. I’ll be there.”
---
Later that afternoon, as Danielle was packing up her laptop to leave, her phone rang. It was Alexander.
She hesitated for a few seconds before answering. “Are you done with work?” Alexander’s voice came through the receiver. “I’m coming over tonight to talk about Niki’s school transfer—”
Danielle’s fingers tightened on her phone. Her mind flashed to the shadowy figures following her and the threat of the Gaylord family.

I hope daniele will have no end game with alexander since whatever the reason is, he only give her too much grievencess. I hope there will be another male character with stronger present than alexander to have the end game with daniele. Hated that in the name of love or protection alexander can treat another woman better, not just once, but with this new lorie girl... Oh my blood pressure getting higher cause by the new plot :(...

Oh poor Bianca... regrets, regrets :)...
This is it! Revenge. Way to go Dani....
OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
