She did have a soft spot for the sweet and tangy flavor of a cranberry orange tart, and she loved the soothing warmth of honey lavender latte. These were old preferences, from a long time ago, and she thought everyone had forgotten them by now.
She glanced up at Alexander. He was standing by the window, speaking with Ninesky's technical director. His profile was sharp and stern, his face devoid of any emotion, as if this special order of refreshments was just something he had arranged casually.
But Danielle knew in her heart this was no coincidence.
This sudden, special treatment left her feeling a little unsettled.
She lowered her head, avoiding Alexander’s direction, and said softly, "It's probably just a coincidence."
"A coincidence?" Kirsten scoffed, leaning in to whisper in her ear. "I don't buy that for a second! Look at this whole table of snacks—yours is the only custom order. If it wasn't specially prepared for you, what is it? Oh, this is big, Ms. Crawford. I think Alexander is trying to win you back."
"Don't be ridiculous," Danielle said.
Kirsten pouted, clearly unconvinced, but she didn't press the matter.
Danielle picked up a piece of the cranberry orange tart. The familiar sweetness spread across her tongue, stirring a complex mix of emotions. It was as if sealed memories were being awakened, bringing with them a hint of sweetness tinged with a sour ache.
After the meeting, everyone packed up to leave. Just as Danielle reached the door, Alexander caught up to her, his voice low as he stopped beside her. "Did you like the refreshments? I know you've been unwell, and the honey lavender latte is gentle. You should drink more of it."
The mention of her being unwell made Danielle's face go pale. Her miscarriage, that lost child, was a pain that still pierced her heart. She clutched the documents in her hand, her tone stiff. "Thank you for your concern, Mr. Davidson. I'm fine."
With that, she turned and walked away, almost fleeing.
Kirsten and Gian exchanged a look, a shared smile in their eyes. They dropped the subject, but a subtle tension now hung in the air.

By the midpoint of the dinner, a lot of alcohol had been consumed, and most of Ninesky’s technical staff were tipsy. Alexander arranged for cars to send them home. Soon, only Gian, Danielle, Kirsten, and Alexander remained in the private room.
Kirsten helped a drunken Danielle to the restroom, leaving Gian and Alexander alone.
The atmosphere instantly fell quiet, broken only by the soft clinking of glasses. Gian looked at Alexander, took a sip of his drink, and cut straight to the point. "You still love her."
It wasn't a question. It was a statement.

I hope daniele will have no end game with alexander since whatever the reason is, he only give her too much grievencess. I hope there will be another male character with stronger present than alexander to have the end game with daniele. Hated that in the name of love or protection alexander can treat another woman better, not just once, but with this new lorie girl... Oh my blood pressure getting higher cause by the new plot :(...

OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
