“They’re older, and they’re overjoyed with the hope that you’ve found happiness. If they find out it was all a lie, they’ll be heartbroken and deeply disappointed.”
She paused. “Besides, you can’t hide the truth forever.”
“This will come out eventually, and when it does, it will be a difficult situation for you and an embarrassing one for me. We’re friends and business partners right now. I don’t want this to affect our relationship, and I certainly don’t want Ninesky to get caught in the crossfire.”
Gian listened quietly, not saying a word.
He knew Danielle was speaking the truth, and he understood her concerns were valid.
“I get it.” After a long moment, Gian finally spoke, his voice still calm. “I was being thoughtless. I didn’t consider all of that.”
“Don’t worry about it. I’ll figure out how to handle this myself.”
Seeing his forced casualness, Danielle’s guilt deepened. “Gian, I’m truly sorry.”
“If there’s anything else I can do to help, please don’t hesitate to ask.”
“Silly girl, why would you be so formal with me?” Gian smiled and ruffled her hair, as if comforting a younger sister who had made a mistake. “We’re friends, aren’t we? Friends are supposed to understand each other.”
His smile was as gentle as ever, but Danielle could see a flicker of exhaustion in his eyes.
She knew this whole affair was putting him under a lot of pressure.
Just then, Alexander Davidson’s voice cut in from the side. “Still here?”
The two of them turned to see Alexander standing a short distance away, holding his coat, his eyes watching them calmly.
“We just finished up a few things,” Gian said. “We were about to leave.”
Alexander’s gaze flickered between them but he didn’t press. He just looked at Danielle. “I’ll drive you home.”
He pulled out his phone and saw a message from Kirsten: “How’d it go? Did you sort it out? Did Danielle agree to come home and meet your parents?”
Gian stared at the screen, his fingers hovering over the keyboard for a long time before he finally typed out a two-word reply: “She said no.”
Kirsten’s reply was instant: “What? Why not?”
Gian looked up and out the window, just in time to see Alexander opening the car door for Danielle, a natural, gentlemanly gesture.
He averted his gaze, his expression unreadable.
Without replying to Kirsten, he put his phone away and walked to his own car.
Some loves, he thought, were destined to be missed.

I hope daniele will have no end game with alexander since whatever the reason is, he only give her too much grievencess. I hope there will be another male character with stronger present than alexander to have the end game with daniele. Hated that in the name of love or protection alexander can treat another woman better, not just once, but with this new lorie girl... Oh my blood pressure getting higher cause by the new plot :(...

OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
