Danielle felt a gentle pang in her heart, a mix of warmth and sorrow. Looking at Alexander’s calm profile, she recalled his words from the night before: “I want you to be safe.” His concern had never been just empty words.
“What about you?” Danielle composed herself, her tone turning serious. “How is your condition? Have you been in treatment all this time?”
Alexander’s eyes darkened, but he didn’t avoid her question. “Rebecca will be arranging my treatment shortly.” He paused, his voice dropping lower. “It’s electroconvulsive therapy for severe depression.”
Danielle’s breath hitched, and she stared at him in disbelief. “Electroconvulsive therapy? Isn’t that too…” She trailed off, unable to hide the worry in her eyes. She knew how physically draining the treatment was, and how painful the process could be.
“I’m not as emotionally stable as I appear on the surface,” Alexander said calmly, as if discussing someone else. “Sometimes, the negative emotions surge uncontrollably, and I can’t suppress them. So the treatment has been ongoing. I wanted you to know.” He didn’t want to hide anything from her anymore; there had been enough distance between them.
Just then, Rebecca approached with a treatment form. “You can go in, Alexander. The room is ready.”
Alexander nodded, stood up, and looked at Danielle. “I’m going in. You can just wait for me out here.”
Danielle couldn’t hold back any longer. She pushed the door open and rushed to his bedside, her voice trembling. “Alexander, how are you?”
He slowly opened his eyes. Seeing her red-rimmed eyes, he managed a weak smile. “I’m fine. I’m used to it.” His voice was incredibly hoarse and heavy with fatigue, but he was still trying to comfort her.
Seeing him like this, Danielle felt a sharp, dense pain in her heart, as if it were being sliced to pieces, leaving her breathless. She reached out, wanting to touch him but afraid of causing more pain. After a moment of hesitation, she gently took his cold hand in hers.

Although she was one of the protagonist (and best friend of Danielle), I'm really annoyed with Kristen. What does she actually want? She wants to be completely free from Gian, whatever their business is. But when Gian doesn't care about her, she gets annoyed and overthinks. Hey, Kristen, the world doesn't revolve around you. You may follow your own feelings, but that doesn't mean you can ignore other people's feelings at all!...
It seems like this novel will end at chapter 5000. Every time one issue ends, another one pops up, and it seems like the author is just trying to drag it out. I'm starting to get tired of reading it....
I hope daniele will have no end game with alexander since whatever the reason is, he only give her too much grievencess. I hope there will be another male character with stronger present than alexander to have the end game with daniele. Hated that in the name of love or protection alexander can treat another woman better, not just once, but with this new lorie girl... Oh my blood pressure getting higher cause by the new plot :(...
