The storm still raged, and the sound of falling rocks was constant, but he could feel the intensity of the blizzard gradually weakening.
Time crawled by in agonizing slowness. Danielle drifted in and out of consciousness, the only constants being the warmth of Alexander's embrace and the steady beat of his heart.
That sound was like a lifeline, urging her not to give up.
After what felt like an eternity, the howling wind outside began to subside, and the sound of falling debris grew sparse. Alexander's spirits lifted. He gently eased Danielle away from him and called her name softly, "Danielle? Danielle? Wake up."
Danielle slowly opened her eyes, her gaze still hazy. "Is the… storm over?" she asked, her voice raspy.
"It's almost over. We need to use this chance to get out of here." Alexander helped her to her feet, making sure the thermal suit was wrapped tightly around her. "The snow outside is probably deep, so the climb will be tough. You have to hold on to me."
Danielle nodded, forcing herself to focus, and gripped Alexander's hand tightly.
They started their ascent. The ice underfoot was slippery, and each step was precarious.
Alexander went first, using his tools to clear a path through the rocks and snow for Danielle.
Halfway up, Danielle's foot suddenly slipped, and she lost her balance, tumbling downward.
"Watch out!"
Alexander reacted in a flash, grabbing her wrist and pulling her back up with all his strength.
The force of the pull scraped Alexander's palm against a sharp rock. Blood immediately welled up, dripping onto the white snow in stark, crimson drops.
Finally, they made it out of the crevasse.
The blizzard had mostly stopped. The sky was still overcast, but visibility had improved significantly.
The landscape was a mess of fallen rocks and deep snowdrifts. The original test platform was almost completely buried.
Alexander let out a sigh of relief and helped Danielle sit on a relatively flat rock.
He was about to take a moment to rest when he noticed Danielle staring intently at his hand, her eyes red-rimmed.
"What's wrong?"

Although she was one of the protagonist (and best friend of Danielle), I'm really annoyed with Kristen. What does she actually want? She wants to be completely free from Gian, whatever their business is. But when Gian doesn't care about her, she gets annoyed and overthinks. Hey, Kristen, the world doesn't revolve around you. You may follow your own feelings, but that doesn't mean you can ignore other people's feelings at all!...
It seems like this novel will end at chapter 5000. Every time one issue ends, another one pops up, and it seems like the author is just trying to drag it out. I'm starting to get tired of reading it....
I hope daniele will have no end game with alexander since whatever the reason is, he only give her too much grievencess. I hope there will be another male character with stronger present than alexander to have the end game with daniele. Hated that in the name of love or protection alexander can treat another woman better, not just once, but with this new lorie girl... Oh my blood pressure getting higher cause by the new plot :(...
