Meanwhile.
Gian half-carried, half-supported Kirsten, keeping his pace painfully slow. A heavy, intoxicating flush painted her cheeks.
Her warm breaths hit the side of his neck, carrying the sweet scent of fruity cocktails. The sensation made him swallow hard.
She felt completely boneless, practically melting into his chest. One of her hands maintained a death grip on his sleeve, her fingers mindlessly tracing the fabric.
"Gian," she murmured, her words slurring together in an adorably stubborn tone. "I'm not drunk, I swear. I can keep going."
Gian glanced down at her. The warm glow of the streetlights cast soft shadows across her delicate features, highlighting the elegant curve of her jawline.
Her thick eyelashes fluttered, brushing against her skin in a way that made his heart skip a beat.
He slowed his steps even further, his voice a mix of exasperation and hidden affection. "Alright, alright, you're not drunk. But we're going home. No more drinks tonight."
It was hard to tell if Kirsten actually understood him. She just buried her face deeper into his chest, seeking the comforting rhythm of his steady heartbeat.
The night breeze caught strands of her hair, sweeping them against his wrist in a teasing caress.
Gian tightened his grip, terrified she might slip. With his palm resting firmly against her waist, her body heat seeped right through his shirt.
They walked the rest of the way in companionable silence, accompanied only by Kirsten's occasional mumbles and the rustling wind.
Once they reached the parking lot, Gian carefully pulled open the passenger door, intending to help her inside.
But Kirsten refused to cooperate. She clung to his sleeve, her eyes red and pleading. "Don't leave," she whined softly. "Stay with me."
Gian let out a helpless sigh. Leaning in closer, he lowered his voice to a soothing murmur. "I'm not going anywhere. I'm taking you home."
"Be a good girl and get in the car."
His breath fanned across her ear, carrying a clean hint of cedarwood.
Kirsten's ears burned. She instinctively shrank back a little but kept her grip firmly on his shirt.
Seeing her act so stubbornly clingy melted whatever resistance Gian had left.

It seems like this novel will end at chapter 5000. Every time one issue ends, another one pops up, and it seems like the author is just trying to drag it out. I'm starting to get tired of reading it....
I hope daniele will have no end game with alexander since whatever the reason is, he only give her too much grievencess. I hope there will be another male character with stronger present than alexander to have the end game with daniele. Hated that in the name of love or protection alexander can treat another woman better, not just once, but with this new lorie girl... Oh my blood pressure getting higher cause by the new plot :(...
