Kirsten pulled out her phone, her thumb hovering over his contact name. She hesitated.

Kirsten turned to wait inside the city hall lobby when her phone suddenly buzzed.

Danielle's voice was thick with worry, sending a rush of warmth straight to Kirsten's heart.
Leaning against the cold glass doors of city hall, Kirsten watched the morning traffic and managed a faint smile. "I'm perfectly fine, don't worry."
"Oh, thank god," Danielle exhaled in relief. "Where are you now? You just recovered, don't go running around. Stay home and rest."
Kirsten glanced down at the divorce papers in her hand. After a few beats of silence, she murmured, "I'm at city hall."
