The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 1357

Alexander Davidson finished signing a stack of documents, glancing up to see his wife looking completely spaced out.

He set down his fountain pen, walked over, and leaned down, gently ruffling her hair. "What's on your mind? You haven't eaten a bite since this morning."

Danielle snapped back to reality, looking up at him with immense worry. "I'm thinking about Kirsten."

"She and Gian went to city hall today. They signed the papers and are officially in the thirty-day cooling-off period."

Alex paused for a moment before taking a seat beside her. He wrapped a strong arm around her shoulders, pulling her into his side, resting his chin lightly on her head. His voice was deep and steady.

"That might not be a bad thing."

Danielle blinked, looking up at him in confusion.

"Their marriage was a sham from the very beginning, built entirely on calculations and desperate compromises."

Alex's dark eyes looked knowing. "The timing was wrong, the foundation was wrong. Forcing themselves to stay together would only destroy them both."

"A clean break is exactly what they need right now."

He paused, adding, "Sometimes, you have to rip up the contract to start over. You can only see a relationship clearly once you strip away all the toxic obligations."

Danielle stared at him, the knot of anxiety in her chest loosening slightly at his logic.

She leaned into his embrace, the familiar scent of cedarwood radiating from him grounding her completely.

After a beat of silence, she murmured thoughtfully, "The timing for our marriage was wrong, too."

Back then, their own marriage had started as a mutually beneficial transaction.

She wanted an escape from her family's relentless meddling, and he needed stability to solidify his grip on the family empire. They struck a deal and rushed into a quick marriage.

Alex's body immediately went rigid. He looked down at his wife.

He tightened his hold on her. "We were completely different."

"Now that Harold Chapman has been arrested, Vanguard is just an empty shell. Every asset attached to the company is under intense federal investigation. Nobody wants to touch them."

Alex nodded, a ruthless glint flashing in his eyes. "They got what they deserved."

Ella and Harold Chapman were ruthless opportunists who had even hurt Kirsten to get ahead. This downfall was long overdue.

Just then, a soft knock echoed at the door.

"Come in," Alex commanded.

His assistant stepped inside holding a file, looking highly uncomfortable. "Mr. Davidson, there's a woman named Ella downstairs. She's demanding a meeting regarding a potential partnership."

Danielle frowned. Talk about a nightmare that wouldn't die.

"A partnership?" Alex scoffed, his tone dripping with disdain. "She's operating a ghost company. What makes her think she can negotiate with me?"

The assistant grimaced. "She claims... she claims she possesses high-value intelligence that you'll want to see."
