Danielle's stomach dropped. She shot Alex a worried look. "This is clearly a trap. Don't go."
Alex patted her hand reassuringly, a predatory sharpness gleaming in his eyes. "Let's see what kind of game she thinks she's playing."
He stood up, smoothing out his suit jacket with effortless authority. "I'll handle this."
"Wait here."
Danielle hesitated, but eventually nodded. "Be careful."
Alex nodded and followed his assistant out of the office.
Downstairs in the VIP reception room, Ella was lounging on the sofa in a striking, fiery red dress. Her makeup was flawless, radiating a dangerous kind of seduction.
The moment Alex walked in, she sprang to her feet, flashing a flirtatious smile, and strutted right toward him.
"Mr. Davidson. It's been too long."
Ella's voice was breathy and artificially sweet. As she spoke, she threw herself directly at him, aiming for his chest.
Alex scowled, smoothly sidestepping her with minimal effort, dodging her touch entirely.
Ella stumbled awkwardly, her smile freezing for a split second before she recovered her composure.
She casually brushed a curl behind her ear, playing it off with a teasing laugh. "You're so rigid, Mr. Davidson."
"Where I come from, a greeting like that is just basic etiquette."
Alex took a seat on the opposite sofa, crossing his long legs in a posture of relaxed dominance. His eyes, however, were absolute ice.
He looked at her, his voice devoid of warmth. "When in Rome."
"We skip the theatrics here."
