The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 1362

In her past life, it was her failure to protect Niki that led to that tiny figure leaving her forever.

That agonizing, soul-crushing grief was something she never wanted to experience again.

"Thinking about Ella?" Alexander asked softly.

Danielle flinched.

She turned to look at him, her eyes instantly welling with tears at the concern etched on his face.

Grabbing his hand, her fingertips were ice cold. "Alexander, I'm so worried."

He tightened his arms around her, pulling her into a fierce embrace. Rubbing her back soothingly, he whispered, "Don't be afraid. I've already doubled the guards. We have men outside the house twenty-four-seven. Nothing is going to happen."

"I'm scared," Danielle's voice broke. "I'm terrified of losing Niki."

The memories of her past life were still too vivid.

She couldn't—she absolutely could not—lose her daughter a second time.

He looked down at her tear-filled eyes, seeing the raw terror hidden in their depths.

His chest tightened, a heavy wave of protectiveness rising within him.

Seeing her in so much distress tore at him.

Cupping her face in his hands, he gently brushed away a tear with his thumb. "Danielle, look at me. Everything is under control here."

"As long as I'm breathing, no one is going to hurt Niki, and no one is going to hurt you."

She threw herself against his chest, holding onto him as if he were her only lifeline.

"I can't lose her."

She choked on a sob, her voice thick with emotion. "Alexander, I really can't."

Alexander felt as if his heart were breaking for her.

Stroking her hair over and over, he simply promised, "I know."

Resting against his chest, listening to the steady, powerful rhythm of his heartbeat and surrounded by his subtle cedarwood scent, her fears slowly began to melt away.

He was right.

But she quickly forced herself to compose it, pasting on a seductive smile as she stood up and walked toward him.

"Mr. Davidson. What a rare pleasure," Ella purred, lacing her tone with deliberate teasing. "What, have you finally thought things through? Ready to cooperate?"

She reached out, trying to loop her arm through his, but the men beside him ruthlessly blocked her path.

Alexander's gaze swept over her face with glacial disgust, looking at her like she was a pathetic clown.

He didn't utter a single word, simply walking over to the executive desk and staring her down from his towering height.

His eyes held no emotion, completely detached.

Yet the sheer cold radiating from him was suffocating.

All the color slowly drained from Ella's face.

Staring into those freezing eyes, her sense of dread skyrocketed.

She knew exactly why Alexander was here. He was here to collect a debt.
