He collected the proposal, his tone shifting to something more casual. "Well, I won't force you. But since we're friends, how about we grab dinner sometime? Just to catch up. No business talk."
Danielle glanced toward the venue's entrance. It was bustling with people, but she couldn't see the familiar figure she was looking for. Remembering her promise to talk with Alexander, she gently shook her head.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Chapman, but I already have plans tonight."
The last trace of warmth vanished from Harold's eyes. He forced a tight smile. "What a shame." With that, he turned and left.
Watching him walk away, Danielle let out a quiet sigh of relief. She knew Harold's invitation was more than just a friendly dinner, and refusing was the best choice.

By the time the summit was officially over, the sound of pouring rain filled the air. Danielle walked to the entrance of the convention center and discovered a heavy downpour had started. A gust of wind blew rain inside, carrying a biting chill. She instinctively pulled her light jacket tighter, a sense of anxiety creeping in. She hadn't brought an umbrella, and she and Alexander hadn't decided on a specific place to meet.
She pulled out her phone to message him but found the signal was weak. Her messages failed to send after several attempts. Left with no other choice, Danielle stood under the eaves, her gaze sweeping across the parking lot, hoping to spot his familiar car. The rain grew heavier, and the sky darkened. One by one, the people at the entrance dispersed, until she was the only one left.
Alexander's body tensed almost imperceptibly. He looked at the hopeful expression in her eyes, and a wave of bitterness washed over him. He reached out and gently brushed a stray raindrop from her cheek. "I'm sorry. I got held up by a few business partners. I came as soon as I could."
Danielle was taken aback. Alexander rarely apologized like that. She shook her head. "It's okay."
He opened an umbrella and put an arm around her shoulder, guiding her into the rain and toward the car. Danielle could feel the warmth of his body and his distinct presence. Pressed so closely against him, her heart began to race. She bit her lower lip, feeling a strange flutter of nervousness.

I hope daniele will have no end game with alexander since whatever the reason is, he only give her too much grievencess. I hope there will be another male character with stronger present than alexander to have the end game with daniele. Hated that in the name of love or protection alexander can treat another woman better, not just once, but with this new lorie girl... Oh my blood pressure getting higher cause by the new plot :(...

OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
