The black sedan had just pulled out of the convention center parking lot. Alexander's hands were still warm on the steering wheel, while Danielle, in the passenger seat, was adjusting the suit jacket draped over her shoulders. Suddenly, a figure darted out from under a roadside awning, waving for them to stop.
Alexander hit the brakes. When he saw it was Nash, he frowned slightly. Nash, holding a large black umbrella, looked flustered. He quickly opened the back door and slid inside, handing a folded document to the front. "Mr. Davidson, this just came in. Jake has contacted several of the older shareholders. He's calling an emergency meeting at the family estate tonight. It seems he's planning to use the damage to the family's reputation as an excuse to renegotiate the management rights of the group."
Alexander took the file, his expression darkening as his fingers traced the dense text. Jake had never been content to stay in the background. With Nathan in prison and the family name tarnished, it was just the opening he needed to make his move. He turned his head to look at Danielle, his lips parting as if to say something.
But Danielle, her fingers tightening on the jacket, spoke first. "You should go. Be safe."
Before Alexander could respond, Nash had already opened his door. "Mr. Davidson, I'll take Miss Crawford back. You go handle things, and I'll keep you updated."
Danielle's lips tightened at his words, her hands clenching unconsciously. She remembered seeing the bloodshot eyes and raw anxiety on Alexander's face on that remote island. She remembered the tense line of his shoulders as he stood silently on the deck. She remembered the apologetic look in his eyes just moments ago. He had been suffering so much all these years.
A thousand questions threatened to spill out. What had he gone through? Why did he develop depression? How much pressure had Nathan's paranoia and Jake's scheming put on him, making him so tense that he constantly felt like a danger to those around him? But she swallowed the words back down. She didn't know how to ask without touching upon a wound he didn't want to expose, and she feared the heavy past would make the fragile peace between them shatter once more.

I hope daniele will have no end game with alexander since whatever the reason is, he only give her too much grievencess. I hope there will be another male character with stronger present than alexander to have the end game with daniele. Hated that in the name of love or protection alexander can treat another woman better, not just once, but with this new lorie girl... Oh my blood pressure getting higher cause by the new plot :(...

This is it! Revenge. Way to go Dani....
OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
