He opened the door for Danielle, his fingertips brushing against her wrist as he murmured, “Don’t be nervous during the check-up. I’m right here.”
Danielle nodded. Just as she was about to get out, she spotted a familiar couple in the distance.
Alexander was carefully supporting Lorie, whose belly showed the slight curve of early pregnancy. Her face had a soft glow as they walked side-by-side down the hospital corridor, looking every bit the loving couple.
Lorie’s sharp eyes caught sight of Danielle first. She immediately pulled Alexander to a halt, her voice laced with deliberate concern.
“Chief Engineer Crawford? What are you doing at the hospital? Are you not feeling well? Here for a check-up?”
Her gaze darted between Danielle and Gian, a flicker of suspicion in her eyes.
Danielle’s hand tightened, but her voice was placid. “It’s nothing serious, just a routine check-up.”
Alexander’s eyes settled on Danielle’s face. His expression was as deep and unreadable as a dark sea, yet it carried a heavy, oppressive weight.
He said nothing, simply watching her as if trying to find something in her expression.
Gian glanced at his phone, then stepped forward, subtly shielding Danielle behind him. “Our appointment is soon,” he said curtly. “We don’t have time for small talk.”
With that, he wrapped a casual arm around Danielle’s shoulder and turned toward the gynecology department.
Watching them walk away together, Lorie’s lips curled into an unreadable smile. She leaned closer to Alexander, her voice just loud enough to be clear. “They seem pretty cozy, don’t they? Coming to the hospital together so early in the morning. They must be living together.”
Alexander’s fingers tightened slightly. His gaze followed Danielle until she disappeared around a corner, only then did he slowly look away.
He didn’t respond to Lorie’s comment, but his face darkened. He turned toward the examination room. “Stop gossiping. It’s time for your check-up.”
Lorie watched his cold profile, a flash of resentment rising within her, but she quickly hurried to catch up.

OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
