The Year I Was the Other Woman To Myself novel Chapter 414

Theodore: Okay.

Penelope: I miss you so much right now.

Theodore: Mm.

Penelope: I’ll miss you even more in a little while.

Theodore: Is that so.

Penelope: I had a peach today. Guess what kind?

Theodore: What kind?

Penelope: Can’t es-PEACH from my love for you.

Theodore: Heh.

Penelope huffed. He still wasn't taking the bait.

She gathered her courage and tried again.

Penelope: My thoughts about you are no longer pure.

Theodore: And so?

Penelope: Even eating a banana makes me think of you.

After sending that, she buried her face in her blanket, blushing. But this time, there was no reply.

“You ungrateful bastard, you’d even screw over your own uncle! I—I might as well just kill myself here and see how everyone outside laughs at you!”

Theodore quickly shut his phone to keep from laughing out loud at his uncle's threat of suicide. He pursed his lips, and when he looked up again, his expression was cold and stern.

“Thank you for your consideration, Uncle, but I’m not afraid of being laughed at. So please, do as you wish.”

Steven was huffing and puffing with rage, pointing a finger at Theodore. But under Theodore's icy stare, he instinctively pulled his hand back.

He was afraid of this nephew. In his forty years of life, the worst beating he’d ever received was from him.

He was a troublemaker, but when Theodore got serious, he didn't give a damn about anyone.

“I’m—I’m your uncle, for God's sake. We’re family. How could you do this to me!” Steven sounded like he was about to cry.

His own father thought he was a good-for-nothing, his sister Renata sighed whenever she saw him, and his wife and kids were ashamed of him. But it was just bad luck. Every company he took over ran into problems. It wasn't his fault.

After a few years of wallowing in self-pity, he had finally mustered the confidence to make a comeback, only to be utterly crushed by a small, up-and-coming company.

He wouldn’t accept it. He hired people to teach the company’s boss a lesson, but ended up getting a lesson himself. He thought, who would be so bold as to touch him? He was a Stapleton, after all. That son of a bitch must not want to do business in Orenth anymore.

“I’m the victim here, rightfully defending my rights. How is that embarrassing?”

“You haven’t looked in a mirror yet, have you?”

“Why would I look in a mirror? My face is still very handsome!”

“I was talking about your ass.”

“Huh?”

“Go take a look.”

Steven didn’t want to listen to Theodore, but his rear end did hurt quite a bit. After a moment of hesitation, he went to the bathroom.

Once Steven was inside, Theodore stood up, exasperated. Just then, a scream came from the bathroom.

“Who the hell tattooed words on my ass!”

“Heartbreaker!”

“Which bitch did this!”

Theodore went upstairs to check on his mother first. She was already asleep. Reassured, he went back downstairs, got in his car, and drove away.
